Hello Everyone,
For some reason the overdrive isn't working in 4th gear. It works great in 2nd and 3rd. In 4th, only if I take my foot completely off the gas will it shift into overdrive, then once I put my foot back on the gas it goes jumps out and I'm not stomping on the pedal either. I thought I saw a post a while ago about directly connecting the relay tothe battery or something could anyone please help?
Interesting that it works in 2/3, but not 4. You may want to inspect your Overdrive Relay for the sake of it. They are prone to having the insulation on the wires pulling back and shorting out.
It is located on the firewall sort of between the distributor and power brake booster. There are two identical relays there. The one closest to the firewall I think is the O/D one. The other one is your fuel pump relay. If you unplug one and the car won't run then it is the other relay.
Sounds like the TV cable is out of adjustment or stuck. You didn't say what year your Vette is but mine is an 85 and the only gear where it auto shifts is 4th gear. 2nd and 3rd gear will stay in OD not matter how hard you mash the throttle. Here is how each tranny is supposed to work in the various years.
