Engine Code P410-Secondary Air Injection System
On Friday I got my 96 back from the dealership. It got a new throttle cable, TPS, Hypertech 160 thermostat and adjustable fuel regulator. The coolant system was pressure tested. Two months prior it had the water pump and intake gasket replaced due to seepage. I doubt the alignment is of interest to the problem.
On Saturday I installed an air foil (I dont' know why...kicke me .Kick me again) and replaced the stock air intake with an SLP open air intake (nice), and downloaded Hypertech firmware for the TL4 and new thermostat.
I drove it afterwards and smiled ear-to-ear, Borla roaring. I drove to work Monday morning and again at lunch time. On the way home, running smoth as can be, I turned on the AC and shortly afterwards noticed the Check Engine light came on. Drove it home, still running great.
I have an ODB-II reader for my laptop and it showed the car threw two P410 codes diagnosed as:
Module: Fuel & Air Metering
Description: Secondary Air Injection System.
I only found one site that had information on GM vehicles that covered the code. Despite [the] threads tendency to bash GM, it covers the opinion that the air pump is the cause and worthless, could be water vapor getting into the MAF, a TBS saying it can be removed on some GM cars, others replaced, and some serious flamming between several members. Absolutely nothing difinitive.

#1 I'm not 100% sure the new air intake is sealing completely with the intake tube. The metal intake is somewhat concave in the middle and the metal clamp doesn't quite seal up. I have to test. I suppose condensation could come from the A/C condensor just below it and into the MAF.
#2 The air foil doesn't snap in as they'd have you believe but rather latches inside the forward air tube and rides loosly in the throttle body chamber (I'm going to have to either discard or mod the mod).
With all the mods and repair done at once, did I just **** off the beast and it needs time to adjust? I've done modes on imports and waited 5-600 miles before it settled down. What's with this air pump thing?
Anyone else seen this?
