Misc. Underdash Pics
This is the ground nut everyone refers to when having lighting problems with the DIC. It is located just on the drivers side just in front of the door. It is the only wire in the area and is easy to locate.

This is the Ambient Override Sensor (little round thingie with the two wires coming out). Corvette Magazine had an article about DD and recommended running a ground from here.

This pic is of where the brake pedal connects to the rod to the Power Brake booster. Note clip and washer. If you have to replace you booster, do NOT lose these two parts.

Last pic for now. It is the best I could do to show where the nuts are that hold the PB booster on the car. On my 88 there are two nuts. The one in the pic, and another directly across the boot on the booster. The one you can see is the easy one (go figure) to get to. The other can be seen when you are laying on the drivers footwell, and is the one that is hard to get to. As I said in an earlier post, if you have to do this job make sure you put a 'dab' of grease on the nut before you try to reinstall. That will keep the nut from falling behind the carpet while you are trying to put it on.

Hope these help someone else at some time.
I tried the idea of running a jumper from the Ambient Override Sensor to another ground and that isn't working either. Hopefully, by monday the Helms manual I purchased will be here and be of some help. My electrical talents stop at putting in a light bulb. Time to at least take a break and quit being frustrated.
I first posted this at 3:11pm today, I just found my problem. A damned bad 3a fuse called INST. Who'da thunk? Obviously not me.

Great post, the door pillar ground has been one I've thought about checking. Although my rebuilt dash works great. Glad you found your problem-we seem to always overlook the simple things first. At least I seem to.
