I have been getting an SES light lately after driving for about 40 miles. I pulled the code and I am getting a code 32. Where do you guys suggest I start looking? Thanks in advance. Tim
Your getting an EGR code that much I can say.Maybe try cleaning the EGR valve? Not really that much to the system EGR and tube
Snakeyes
I did a search in the archives. I found 1 post that said if it triggered a code it was an electrical problem. It seems to me that I have read in the past that it is common for the EGR temp switch to trigger a code 32. But I am not sure how to test it. Thanks for the response. Tim
EGR solenoid/switch first, then likely to be a clogged pipe if that doesnt fix it.
Thanks vader86. I have a test procedure for the EGR solenoid/switch. Maybe you have heard of the temp switch causing the code. Whats your thoughts. Thanks Tim
Check the vacuum line to the solenoid which is bolted to the thermostat housing. Note that it tees and runs to the canister. Sometimes, it just pulls apart. If the solenoid can't provide vacuum to the EGR, you'll get the code 32.
Replacing the EGR switch cured my code 32. It's inexpensive-but plugs in down and behind the distributor. Save some time and just splice the new switch into the old switch line.
