Default help help driveability problems

OK GUYS I HAVE SOME PROBLEMS
First up 89 6speed 67,000 miles, I just bought the car last week the car ran a little rough so I performed a tune up new plugs, cap and rotor, fuel filter, air filter,180 stat and early fan switch also cleaned the throttle body and idle speed control, and reset idle, when I first drove the car ran ok but I noticed the dash was a little dim, but the alt was charging fine, 1 day later the alt took a dump so I purchased a new one, installed, the dash lights brightness is now intermittent bright then dim, I also noticed that the car feels like it hits a brick wall in first gear , I get on it , and it feels like its being detuned (but only seems to do this when the dash lights are dim. When the dash lights are bright,,bang that sucker moves !! the car also wants to stall at red lights when hot over 185 or so (the car runs cool 185 to 214) any ideas ?????????

Help please

Hi! and welcome to the Forum!

From what you are describing and , I am sure others who may have experienced the same problems will be along soon, it almost sounds like bad ground connections..Dash lights are usually a ground problem. If they were a voltage problem, I think you would kill a battery, but you did say the alt took a dump! Was it the alt or the battery?

Good luck and Godspeed

Jack

Try a different battery. A loose plate in your battery can cause loss of voltage and improper signal to alt.
