Default cam help please

CompCams 224/230 112LSA camshaft. .542" / .544" lift with 1.6 rockers

CompCams CM612 single coil valve springs for use with stock or modified heads. Includes all locks and retainers. Compliments 224/230 cam.

Cloyes True Double Roller Adjustable timing chain with cam and crank sprockets. While doing a cam install this makes perfect sense to change to protect the motor from added stress. For use with an electric waterpump.

is this an ok cam for use on a stock lt1?

You could use that cam without any problems. However the springs maybe an issue because they may need head valve pocket machining to fit. Your other choice would be a set of the Comp beehive springs made for the LS1 engines. With the proper spring cups and Ti retainers they fit just fine and are good for a .600+ lift cam. Call Comps cam help line and they can supply you with the right part numbers.

A set of good flowing ported heads would really compliment that cam. The stock LT1 heads will not realize the full potential of a cam like that, even a set of LT4 heads would really wake up the engine if you were to add them at the same time you do the cam swap. The other issue is emissions, do you have to pass a sniffer test? and what about tuning? A cam with those specs is definitely going to need some PCM tuning or a custom chip. It will have a lopey idle.

IMHO that cam is a bit much for a stock LT1, especially if you have an automatic transmission.

As Tom has stated, if you plan on upgrading your heads and getting a custom tune, that cam would work great.
