ok i have a 91 L98 w/manual. had a very lean condition due to a clogged cat. gutted all 3 now after 10 minutes of driving i keep getting a code 32(egr) whats causing this, or how can i get rid of the problem and will it hurt motor to run with the problem or how about just taking out the egr valve and blocking off the port? it was fine until i cleaned out the convertors! any help would be appreciated as i have to imagine others have run into this when they gutted thier cats??
Someone else will chime in, and I'm not sure of this-but, I think that's normal and you might have to have your chip reprogrammed to remove the code 32. Once again, I'm not sure-

I got the same code on mine, but it would only come on after driving to work in the morning. The drive is 10 minutes at a steady 60 mph. I could drive around all day long in traffic and it would never come on, just after steady cruising at highway speeds. After 2 or 3 weeks of this, it stopped throwing the code. I have no idea why, but I've never seen a code 32 since.
I have a 91 auto and have the same condition after installing LT headers and removing front cats. I was told along time ago that this is due to the oxygen sensor not getting to temp when cruising at highway speeds ( too much flow??) either way the fix I'm told is to install a heated O2 sensor. I never bothered and it has not been a problem other than the annoying light on the display panel after 15 mins of driving on highway.
No codes here on the 84 CF or the 91 ZR1, both have headers with no cats. I did however install a heated 02 sensor on the 84 just because I had two spares after replacing the 02 sensors in the ZR1 when I installed the headers. Later, 84 CF 91 ZR1
I removed all 3 cats and no codes. I can't see how the cat can be involved with your code. I removed the egr for looks and ease of valve cover removal and have had no codes with that either.
I also got the dreaded EGR code after gutting my cats and installing larger diameter y-pipes. The code would come on only during hwy use. I tried replacing every piece of the EGR system to no avail. I ended up having a custom chip burned that eliminated the code 32.
