i have a service manual for a 91 and it says i need a TECH 1 Diagnostic Computer or equivalent "scan" tool.where can i get a good one? and should i get a TECH 1 or is there a different tool that is better? and what kind of price range are we looking at? thanks for the help......until next time
An AutoXray scan tool will do a nice job too; you may be able to find one on e-bay.
There are software packages and cables available that allow you to use a lap top PC for the same purpose, though not as convenient as a more portable scan tool.
The AutoXray is for diagnostics on the engine computer only.
The Vetronix Tech-1A, MasterTech, and Tech-2 can be used for ALL the computers in the vehicle. And, they are "bi-directional", which means they can send commands to the individual computers, as well as, read data. There are some others that can do the same thing. But, these are more expensive than the AutoXray.
