How much will a chip help out a 92 LT1 with ram air, 160 thermo, flowmaster cat back,& throttle body bypass? Which is better Hypertech or fastchip? Thanks

I don't know how you could install a gernic chip without knowing what your engine is doing first. Check out the article under the C4 tech tips section. Most after market chips advance the timing under WOT. I had to decrease mine as the knock sensors were already starting to retard the timing in the stock chip. I also found out my engine was running rich at WOT.

It depends on what type of help you are looking for from the chip. I see you have a 160 stat, but have the fans been reprogrammed to take advantage of it? I don't think you will see a huge performance gain, but you may realize some driveability enhancements such as when the torque converter locks up and the fans on/off temps setup for the lower temp thermostat. Given a choice between the two chips listed, I would go with the Fastchip.

If you plan on continuing to mod your vette, learn how to do it yourself. There is a DIY Prom forum at www.thirdgen.org. Lot's of good info on getting started. This is the only way to get the "best" chip for your car.

If you are not, go with fastchip. The hypertech is a waste of money.
