I got up to 142 on the 101 fwy here in LA one night racing one of those customized VW's, the ones named after some DR.. I am glad that he could not handle it, he must have been a looker and not a driver. I just knew that my tires were not the best so, I had reached my limit as well.
I did brake 150 zone in a almost new (at the time) Probe GT with the turbo and aftermarket parts. I blew one of the back tires since it was a gas station replacement that the owner did not tell me about as he was just trying to impress some girl, but could not handle the speed. The car just floated since I did not over react and used the gears to slow down. The damage was not that great, but he was not happy when no one helped him change the tire in the middle of the AZ desert at 2am.
Speaking from exp. check out your car and know it and where you are going to do it at before you do. I hardly ever go past 120 now.

169 backing off of a good run. Tx DPS verified. That is an aotomatic "go to jail" do not cross go do not collect $200. Fasted speedometer indicated 197. Ah so close!

158 in my 93', 165 on my FZR1000(looked at the gauge real fast a little nervous taking eyes off the road)and 155 in a 87 GLHS Shelby charger at least thats what the trooper in the plane told the 3 troopers on the ground that I was doing. last thing make sure you got ZR rated tires.a blow out at 150 can't be much fun. as for that kid with the 167 mph picture. oh to be 21 again

SDBOJRAB,
Sounds like a very similar set-up to mine... have you raced it at the track ? How'd you do ?

That 150 your talking about, is it in the 1/4 mile or TOP speed ?
I've never hit 150 on the streets, however I've gone 160+ many times in the 1/4 mile...
No NOT in my Vette, in my D/A (NHRA legal) Camaro.. ET 8.05 .. 60' 1.14
Now THATS a ride
