Alright, I fixed my scantool issue. I finally got the vehicle to scan in closed loop. I'm still idling rough. It threw three codes (they're intermittent, though. I'll scan it, it'll throw the codes, then I'll scan again and it'll be clear, or just have one or two.)
Code 52, 53 & 54. I can't remember which one corresponds to which but one is "calpack missing/installed incorrectly/faulty," the other one is "system voltage too high" and the last is "fuel pump voltage high/low." What could be causing these codes? Are there alternate definitions for these codes? (IE, i'm just reading the code definition that the tool gives me, but I know sometimes a code 52 or 53 or 54 could mean more than just that one definition.) Any help anybody?
Hi Pablo - I have a close friend that fought a similar problem with his 87 Vette. Took him most of a month to finally find the source of his failure and it turned out to be a faulty knock sensor. I don't recall if the device was shorted or open but it took him forever to finally locate the true source of his problem. Same codes were set in his car and the rough idle issue was also present - you might want to pull the knock sensor and do a couple of checks.
Good luck and let us know what you find...........

The best course of action is to follow the trouble shooting charts in your Helm's. This can help prevent the needless and costly replacement of "good" parts. Without cracking the book, *I* would check the fuel pump relay, because of the code 54.
