What is the stall speed on an stock '88 vert torque converter (2.59's or 2.73's not sure which)? What are the opinions of what is the best stall speed for a new converter? I want more pick-up for stoplight drags, but also wanna keep some mileage etc, for in town/highway driving as this is a daily driver. no big mods yet, Just a cut air lid, removed MAF screens. gonna port and polish plenum, base and runners before thinking about cam and roller rockers, but those mods are comin'. Thanks, Bob

I think I've heard that our TC stalls at about 2000RPM.
A higher stall TC will help you launch harder but you may have to learn to "drive" it off the line to keep from blazing the tires. I put a 2400rpm TC into my '86 IROC and I cannot slam the accelerator on street tires.
Your in town mileage may drop off a little but highway will be unaffected.
Also, here some things to think about, you've got mail.
