Default 84 Front Wheel Bearing

Went to change my front brakes/rotors/lines on my 84. Right side wheel bearing is making a grating/rasping sound when you spin it. Doesn't seem to have a lot of play. I assume I change it? Best place to get one locally? Advance, Autozone, Napa? Also having a hard time breaking loose one of the hard lines from the rubber hose so that I can put my stainless on.

front wheel bearing is a piece of cake. On and off in a flash once you get the calipers and rotors off.

Just be careful on those SS hardlines...good luck

get some high tech guerilla snot (not WD-40) to spray on the fitting and be sure to use the proper type of wrench for loosening lines (flare wrench)

I have read about others buying the firebird front wheel bearing to save money. Does that work for an 84 also, and what year firebird wheel bearing is it for 84?

The tech tip https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=172&TopicID=2 says it is for a 91 through 96. Not sure if it will work on an 84.

Thanks Agent86, saw that also. Don't really want to wait for shipping. Am trying to find one at our local stores if possible Autozone, Advance Auto, Carquest, or Napa. Any advice which has better bearing or does anyone know for sure if the firebird bearing works on a 84?

Agent86 & All:

The guy on ebay just lowered his price to $85 for the front hub, listed as 84-90. See below. I ordered it!

I received the Ebay front wheel bearing that cost me $85 as shown in the link of this thread. I am satisfied, looks like good quality. No brand marking that I could see, just the part # 513019, 3261, and date 10/03.
