I will try to keep this short, about 8 months ago my drivers side head light would not pop up when I turned my headlights on. Driving along if I hit a good pump in the road it would pop up. I don't drive my vette much and when I do its in the day time and sometimes at night. It would keep doing this all the time so I went and got a rebuild motor and installed it. When I first turned on the headlights it did the same thing. I tried it again and it started working. Went for a ride tonight and turned on the headlights and the same headlight would not pop up, so I get out of the car and bang on the cover and it pops up. Got home and and turned them off/turned them back on and would not go up. If I manualy open it and turn off the headlight switch it will close but not re-open. I do know that the motor does not run when I turn them on and the gears are good and I'm getting power. Is there a relay for the headlight motors? The only thing I can think of is I got a bad rebuilt motor. Any idea's anyone!

Inside of the front fender, in front of the driverside front tire, is a cover that houses three (3) relays. That should be a last place to check, however, as most problems stem from loose electrical connections. Check the connectors for corrosion. Other than that, see if the wires to the motor are pinched anywhere. If you haven't by now, get yourself a copy of the shop manual. Yes, check the relays. Best quick check is to swap the two that are the same. The 3rd one is an isolation relay. If the problem moves it was the relay, if the problem goes away it was a bad connection, if the problem stays it is likely the motor or another connection.

Thanks CoolVette86 for the info on the location of the relays! The top relay operates the two headlight motor relays below it. I just switched them around and the headlight that would not go up would work and the other would not go up. A new relay is about $20 at the local chevy dealer.
