A/C Delete
New to the forum and was looking for some useful info on an 87 L98 A/C Delete bracket with pulley. I've gone through March, ASP, and Carroll Supercharging. These guys don't make any. Could use a little help...thanks

I purchased a GM AC delete bracket off of ebay a while back. The seller was an outfit called Camaro Heaven and the bracket is a GM part. The GM part number on the bracket is 10055890. The bracket I purchased was for the 3rd generation Camaro, 1LE package I believe. It mounts where the AC compressor mounts. This bracket will take a little modification for my vette, a 1985, but nothing more than a spacer and drilling out one of the holes in the bracket. Good luck.

This is what I bought, and it seem to fit good, with no mods.
I have the engine in the stand and still have to do the smog delete, but this part looks good to go. I am in the process of doing the pulley setup, before I install.
This is going in my 85, hope it helps,

Hope you're not getting rid of it because of the "parasitic load"; I remmeber some ricer telling me that he cut his AC belt and now the car runs faster. Riiiight... Oh no, not the extra added .5lb pulley that the motor has to spin! He'd have gained more by yanking the actual compressor and saving a few pounds of weight; or similarly taking a crap, woulda shed quite a bit 
Perhaps you might find a shorter belt? I did that with my Celica, but I wouldn't know if theres anything available a few inches shorter then stock (did any C4s come w/o AC?)

Delete AC
I removed smog and AC. from my 86, my mechanic did some unusual mods for it to work. I wanted the weight saving for autocross. The week after we finished the new motor, I raced at California Speedway.
It was 105 degrees and I heat stroked sitting in the car in line! I was packed in ice for an hour to cool down.
To date, removing the AC. is the biggest mistake I've made so far of the $35K in mods. I'll probably try putting another one back in by next summer.

For L98's only I believe you can do the following:
Remove the A/C.
Cut the belt and fit the belt with no A/C while running it through the tensioner BACKWARD. Trust me this will work, the tensioner does care which way it spins. Measure the new length and order the right size belt.
You are done. The only thing I did different than this was that I ordered a ribbed pulley for the tensioner as it will go thought that rib side down now, but this is not really needed to work.
No need to order an A/C "Delete".

I did the A/C delete. And A/C was standard on a C4.
For L98's only I believe you can do the following:
