454 in a C4

No.
Needs at least a 2 1/2" rise maybe more.

If he wants something truly different, I seem to remember GM putting a ZL-1 engine in a C4 just for HaHas. Now that would be different, not every kid on the block has one of those.
THe way they installed the big block was a motor plate across the front of the motor that bolted to welded brackets that were fixed to the front end suspension "frame" braces. It was pretty simple when you saw it in there. With the motor plate, they were then able to remove the front tube that goes across the front of the car. EVERYTHING else, was removed from under the hood to get it to fit.
Now a portion of what you guys are missing in doing all this is two fold.
1. If you put a big block in one of these cars, you might as well put a 500+ inch one in otherwise there are many scb combos that can make equivalent power, with a WHOLE lot less hassle/money and you won't compromise the handling etc that you will screw up putting over 400 pounds more in the nose.
2. If you do elect to put a 500+ inch motor into one of these cars, say goodbye to traction, which is next MAJOR factor you will need to address. Both of these cars at E-town had fully tubbed out rears, solid axles, and about 15" wide slicks to harness the power. Not to mention wheelie bars etc.
In the end what you will have is a 40k dollar all out racecar, that you will probably hate to drive, if you even elect to keep it on the street.
To go through all the headaches of a 454 big block - why not just put a 434, which will still leave you searching for ways to harness #2, and if built right, with the correct components WILL hang with most all ALL-OUT racecars, without the compromise of all the goodies our vettes have to offer. Ask me how I know.
Just some thoughts on the subject.
