Thumper turbo project getting started

I hope you guys make some good progress before Christmas. I'm stuck on waiting on parts, but I finally found a good intercooler guy that should be able to have one made for me and to my door by next week.

For 3" and under I found a guy on ebay the seller is named ubendman cute huh? He sells aluminized mild steel ubends 90 or 180 for cheap.
For my 3.5" I went with stahl headers inc. www.stahlheaders.com
I got the mild steel 7"clr ubends for $20.50 each.
For my 3.5" 90 degree bend with a 3.5" clr called Specialty Design Inc www.spdexhaust.com That piece was $39 but there was no other way to get the turn that sharp without a pain in the **** welding and pie cutting.
The aluminized mild steel needs to be welded with a wire feed welder, or so I'm told, but it doesn't need anything else after that. Its the stuff most exhaust shops use. The mild steel should be coated or its going to rust and look like crap after a very short time. I'm planning on having mine ceramic coated or jet hot coated.
I also just ordered my intercooler from Extreme Turbo Systems. They have an ebay store, but I just called him at 360-263-3748. I talked to J.R. and he is very knowledgeable and prompt on calling back. Which is much more than I can say about the Griffin people that I talked to. He's hooking me up with a Griffin core that will flow 1000 cfm with a very reasonable pressure drop. And the best thing is he said my custom IC will ship out later this week. The second best thing is it cost me under $500 to my door.
I hope this helps give you some places to go Chris, start spending that money

What are you doing to modify the A/C box? I've gotta do something similar but more extensive. It looks like sheet metal, or is it a fiberglass patch of somesort?

Mine won't be a simple trim this cut that type of job. I'm basically going to hack the thing in half and only use the top half. Maybe 3/4 if there's room.
But now I know what I can try to get it to work.

I don't think that will help. I'm using the stock impalla header that comes back to the firewall right where the box should end up. I had to grind down the header to get it to fit. I've got it blocked off with some sheet metal now but the header is RIGHT against it.
Bruce should have all the components for the oiling and fuel system by then and we might be able to fire it up soon. As a side note I did a little experimenting and have found a Plethora of tighter (and looser) turbine housings that fit our series turbo. Including water cooled housings out of marine applications.
We should have no problem sizing the thumper's hot side for the desired response despite being 60 odd inches from the nearest exhaust port. generous application of swain tech coatings and thermal wrappings will help keep efficiency high.
Im hoping to see at least 750 Rwhp @ 1 bar or so. Possibly higher thanks to the refridgerated intercooler.

Looks Good so far
