Default Converting From TPIS Longtubes to True Duals?

I have TPIS's ceramic headers on my 86 with the giant "Y" that connects it to the cat. I want to eliminate the cat and the "Y" to run a true dual system.
The headers "slip" into the "Y" without the usual 3 bolt header flange
on most headers.
What do I have to do to convert to the true dual? Is there a slip on reducer?

TIA

Country Club Exhaust in Cape Coral that hooked up 3" true duals to TPIS LTs on an '87 Vette some years ago. The installed dual Random Tech bullet cats with 3-bolt flanges front & rear.

To get a look at the article ("Fast Track to Fume-Free Power") on this buildup see if Corvette Fever has the May, 2000 issue on their site.

Summit sells slip-on cone reducers for 3" to 2.5" reduction. I used them to patch my TPIS headers to my previous exhaust and used band clamps to hold them. It was a kludge and only good to drive the car to a custom exhaust shop a fair distance from my home.

Then the exhaust guy welded 3 bolt flanges onto the header collector and the cats I had bought.

I have an LT1 and I started with true duals so you have additional complications. But you don't have the problem of getting out the cats which is a bitch on LT1s.

Converting a 89 to true duals is a piece of cake. Just get a complete system made for a 93 and up LT1 C4. For example I converted a forum members (thetoy) 89 M6 car using a B&B 3" system earlier this year. All I had to do was to purchase the LT1 exhaust system hangers for a 95 M6 car and bolt the system in place. It was literally that easy You will have to make a pair of extension pipes from the collectors to the B&B head pipes, and if you need you can install a pair of 3" bullet cats up front. The system sounds great but has some resonance, but due to the fact that TheToys car is basically a race car it wasn't an issue for him. Another alternative is to go with a Corsa system, you can install it in the same manner as the B&B system. Its much easier on the ears while still sounding great.
