What guys are running 4.10 gears with 383, and how do you like them for street use? I am running a new 383 with miniram and wanted to get a bit more low end punch as i still have stock 3.33 in my 89 6 speed. i am after both positive comments and if any negatives about them, also what the best brand ,Gm or other. Car is daily driver with occasional track days.
If I were you I would visit the track again and see which gear you finish the 1/4 mile. I have a stock '94, with 3.45 gears, and believe it or not the car had to be shifted to sixth gear at the end. Im sure that the 383 is a faster reving motor that the stock L98, so one more visit to the track would give you a better assessment on going to a deeper gear. Good luck!
I have a 383 with a miniram and 4.11s. I am in 4th gear at 6200 rpm as I cross through the traps. I like the 4.11s alot. I've got 315's on the rear which helps with traction. It also makes 6th gear much more useable.

You needed sixth gear at the end of the 1/4 mile? That can't be. I also have a '94 that is basically stock and I barely get into fouth gear at the end of the run.
I'm in the same baot. 91' 379ci 6 speed, 3.33 gears. My engine pulls like no tomorrow through 8000rpm . I was thinking of getting 3.73's or 4.11's to better suit my tunnel ram . I was going to wait to decide until I get the new motor to the track and see what gear and rpm I am going through the traps. But any experiences would be helpful...
I hear Toms diff have good gears and also the 4.11 from the Dodge Vipers work as well...

thanks all,
I don't go to the track more than 6 times a year so having a more usable 6th gear for the street sounds good, anyone know what rpm 4.10's run at in 6th gear on the freeway?

4:10's has been recommended by several members of this site. It was recommended to me as the first mod I should do. I have a friend that has a 01 Camaro SS with 4:10's as his only mod and it made a big difference on the butt dyno. He is revving at 2200rpm at 75mph and 6th gear feels more like that of the Z06. I haven't done mine yet, but will get it done over the winter peroid.
