Default P600B--should I or shouldn't I???

I have decided to pull my engine due to ring failure. At this point, I can go a number of directions but seeing as how I have an intercooled ATI procharger kit I bought from a forum member sitting in boxes, I am contemplating just freshening my 383, leaving the wide LSA cam and installing the supercharger. Question is....Is the P600B big enough for a 383? If not, can I sell just the P600B and put another unit on my kit??

Thanks

I can't say for sure but if its about the same as a Vortec S trim then it would work fine. One think you may consider if that 600B isn't one of them blowers that has its own self contained oil resorvoir. It maybe a good decision to sell it or have it upgraded to a self contained version so that you won't have to punch a hole in your oil pan.

What kind of power are you making with your setup?

I think Bruce still has his D1SC head unit for sale. Going bigger wont' hurt you. And if you feel the need to turn up the boost later, you'll have plenty of room to do it.

I would go ahead and install that P600B on your car. It may not be the best choice out there, but you already have it. It will give you good power. I ran one back in 94 on a Cobra with a 351 and it made nice power even back then. Consistent trap speeds just over 130MPH. Back then ATI's brackets were really terrible, but the blowers were fine.

enough to smoke the ram clutch I had in it on the dyno..........haven't had it on the dyno sence the new clutch has been in. By the way the D series supercharger will require a differrant bracket than the p600b.

I've got the P600B intercooled kit on my 383 at 10psi, still pushing thru a long-tube TPI. Made 433 hp / 505 tq at the wheels, but ran out of steam at 5000rpm because of the intake I think. Just finished installing a SuperRam; should be a monster if it pulls to 6000.

George I see you have an extra pulley. Do you experience much slippage with your system?
