My '89 wouldn't start this morning. It would crank and run for about 5 seconds and then stop. Thinking it was fuel related, I changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter. It still wouldn't keep running. I checked for codes and got a code 33. I disconnected the MAF sensor and now it starts and runs okay. I replaced the MAF sensor but, when connected, the motor kills. I bought a new MAF sensor and relays and the same thing happens. Anybody got any ideas?

Are you sure you changed the right relays? The relays for the MAF are the 2 behind the battery. There are a couple relays by the wheelwell that are for the cooling fans. The relays all look alike, so it would be easy to change the wrong ones. If this isn't the problem let me know, I have an 89 and can e'mail you the troubleshooting chart out of the factory manual. good luck Rich
