Can't help but try. I would hope that the manufacturer has some correct test data. I want to know if I would get 10hp or more.
I don't think I could feel 10hp increase but that is me. I find it hard to believe that they would invest all the R&D money for zero gain. Holley/Hooker have always been a reputable mfg. so let's see what they say!

Good luck with the effort. I ran shorties on my car for a year. There is no/very minimal power gain. They look better than stock tho.
Good thread, I posted similar last month, same responses. I'm putting on a Borla system soon for my '92, and I was wondering if I should go to shorties while I'm at it, looked at JBA ceramic shorties, but 700+ dollars is making me lean to keeping my manifolds.I'll already be spending a grand on the Borla system! Also, Ive read that from L98 to the LT1 Chevy went back to exhaust manifolds from a header like arrangement, and that the exhaust manifolds are smoother inside, like ported heads, which have a better flow than any headers. I guess GM spent alot of $$ on R&D on why they chose the manifolds. I don't know....

Are you sure you want to go with Borla? I'd look seriously at B&B and Corsa. Take a look at www.rickanthonymotorsports.com His prices are really low, especially on the B&Bs.
A lot of ppl that know; say one can actually lose a few HP when changing from std ex manifolds...I know most people will jump up and down about that, but do the research.
Astetically tho, I don't think many ppl would dissagree that nice looking headers are appealing.

Different exhaust set ups yield different gains in the power range of the engine. For example, long tubes definetly give much better high end horsepower, above 4000 rpms. However, there can be a loss in low end torque.
But the flow is affected, which would cause that. Using 1 and 3/4 over 1 and 5/8 could possible account for that. Is there really a HP loss, or is the tourque just now maximized higher along the RPM band?
