fuel milage
okay before I get flamed, I realize that a ZR-1 is not a economy car but in todays economy it never hurts to know going in what kind of milage to expect. so that being said what kind of fuel economy are you guys getting out of your z's. also wondering if it is any better with the power key switched to valet mode (in case the wife wants to drive it)

In a recent 300 mile trip, the Z averaged an honest 26 mpg. That was @ 70 MPH with the A/C for the entire time. It should go without saying to get that kind of milage there was no ''spirited'' driving.

The best I got was a 630 mile trip up I-95 running 68 MPH with no AC, it used 20.1 gallons for a 31.3 MPG average. The last 20 miles I could hear the fuel pump sucking air and since it's a 20 gallon tank, nobody can accuse me of underfilling it.
When I drove it every day, I got 20-21 MPG which included at least one trip to 7000 RPM every day. When driving 40-45 MPH in 6th gear, the instantaneous MPG would read over 40 which helped to offset those 7000 RPM blasts.
It doesn't make any difference what position the power key is in as far as MPG is concerned but it definitely affects GPM (Grins Per Mile).

I just did an engine upgrade and got 26mpg @ 77mph for about 700 miles....
My car doesn't like 6th gear below 70mph.

I got 24 mpg on mine, but in general, the LT5 seems to get about 2 mpg less than the 300 hp Lt1 vettes just because that extra 100 hp comes from more fuel.

385 get's 16mpg City 23mpg Highway
441 get's 13mpg City 24mpg Highway
Both car's have 3:90 ratio gear & cat converter's. The 385 love's skip shift and that brings up the City mileage. Where as the 441 dosen't care for a skip shift at all. That car is a long legged thoroughbred and runs like a scalded dog.
Go figure.

I think the fuel economy on these cars is absolutely amazing, and well ahead of their time. An honest 24 MPG, and an honest 180 MPH what a combination!
