161 mph in a bone stock 94 LT-1 M6 and it was still pulling.....got scared on the highway I was on (too many turns)

165 mph in the C5 M6 vert....ran out of room. Time seems to stand still, but the scenery flies by.....

JB, you run out of room or what? You got enough power to go over 200 mph, no?

Reached top speed of 185 in the TA a bunch of times. Car was very stable. Only had the Vette up to 175, front end was feeling kind of light. May have to tape off my Tigershark opening in the front. Although I'm probably feeling the increased downforce on the back end with the Tigershark rearend. Want to see 200mph.

I've probably only shifted into 5th a handful of times under full boost.

I would guess I've seen 160. The car was still pulling real hard at that speed, but I have no desire to see what it will do on the top end. I would guess that many of the cars here could easily go over 200mph with a little ductape work.

Just bought my Vette at the end of the season last year, so I didn't have much time to drive it. I was able to get in a 150+ pull up a incline before the passenger flipped out! This season I'll top her out. I have done 186 on my 04 Yamaha R1!! That was all she had!

Almost anytime I used to do a run down the interstate I'd find myself shifting to 5th. I'd see 160 on a regular basis with 523rwhp/506rwtq (blower). Stock I actually did a top speed run and got just shy of 170 before running out of room.

Happened other day on my testing of STS Kit. Went thru 1-4 in a flash. Shifted to 5th and looked down at speedo ... doing 150. Don't think I had gone much past 1/4 mile mark at this point in testrun.

Pulled strong from there on up to 160 ... when I backed off.

I'd say she has an easy 200 in her reach. Just waiting for right conditions to see.

With stock gear I believe you run out of gear before the 200 mark. And there was a post before that said to absolutely not use 6th gear for a top speed run. I guess the gear is really small and not made for high temps, it will heat up, and boom, no more 6th gear! That happening at 200 or close to could get very ugly!! Good Luck!!

The new C6 Z06 goes 197 mph, no? It makes 450 rwhp and it has 3.42's... I don't see how the C5 would run out of gear w/ 3.42's in 5th gear. JB has done 190 mph and I believe he still has 3.42's.

Speedy ... I never hit 6th. Was in 5th ... which is the gear for topspeed runs.

Still .... I'll let JBS go first ... and tell us it is safe to go into the twilight zone.

For real? How did it feel at that speed? Do you have any splitters or rear wing?

Are you serious? I didnt know that was really possible, or safe.

Does anyone actually know what speed 5th gear will pull to with 3.42's and the right hp at 6k rpm? Or even 6500?

JBS?

Hey, I could be wrong, which in this situation I am happy to be! It's always been a personal goal to hit the 200mph mark, and now that I know I have the gear, and the car, I just have to work on the power!! I did read in a previous post though that they said you would run out of gear at just before the 200 mark. We'll see!
And 197-198 in a vert with the top down, who does that!?!?!?!!? I was going to call it because of the aerodynamic part of it, but I guess with 650RWHP you can pull it!!
And Black Magic, I didn't know that was safe, just under 200mph isn't safe on any streetable car on streets! Just messin with ya. How I look at it is in a car, at anything over say 120, you stand a very poor chance of coming out of it alive. So from 120 up it's the same end result if anythig went wrong! If you're gonna do the 120, might as well go the whole way!!

Hey Nextphasemarko, the new c6 z06 also boasts a 7000rpm redline! Unfortanelty we don't have that many revs to play with. Althought it still might be assertaining the 197 at a lower rpm than redline. It's max hp is at the 6200 mark. So who know! Good Day
