Default Do new headers require more boost.

I installed an ATI D-1SC supercharger 3 years ago and kept the stock headers and exhaust. A year later, probably in April, I had Kooks headers and and an exedy clutch installed. Later that year, I went to Corvettes at Carlisle. I had the car Dyno'd. It did about 438 HP. It looked to be running to lean. I had it adjusted and came back the next year and dyno'd it after making the fuel adjustments. It did a little better with 458 HP, but nowhere near the 492 I was accustomed to.

I installed Borla Stingers this year at Carlisle but, the Dyno guy packed up early on Sunday, so I did not get to see if it made a difference.

Is it really as simple as turning up the boost ? I need to check out the boost gauge while I am at my neighborhood dyno. It will give me a better idea what the boost levels are. Just hard acceleration I see around 6 pounds. The car was set up for 8.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

If its not making full boost the belt could be slipping a bit... when is the last time you changed it or adusted it?

Adding headers probably lowered your boost. There might be room to jack it back up.

Thanks guys for your responses. The first year I had the tuning checked. Tuner said it was OK. Belt is only about 1.5 years old, it does squeak once in while. I going to make an appointment to for the Dyno and see what the boost gauge tells me.

How accurate are the typical gauges inside the car ?

When did you have the 492 HP and what was different then?

Alot of times you show less boost with lt headers, but make more power and tq because your car is breathing better on the exhaust side.

I change my belts once a year to be safe

When I had the 492 the car was completely stock other than a supercharger and inter cooler. After that I install the headers, high flow cats and clutch (still had OEM exhaust). Put the Borlas on it at Carlisle last month.

I really can't think of anything else that may have change the output.

Havinbg to add more boost to "keep" the power you had before makes no sense to me. Making less bost (but more hp/tq) should be the case. If not, what would be the point of spending 2 grand on headers?
