I've got a 238/242 .605/.610 113+4lsa cam w/my paxton setup and make right at 800rwhp at approx 16lbs of boost. I've had 10plus people tell me it sounds exactly like a nascar. It's unreal! I honestly don't think you'd lose as much power as you think. I was worried about it until I saw the results. Everyone told me not to do it, but it came out great!~Andy

mid 240's here on a 114lsa. sounds pretty radical. on cruise nights I like to knock 6-8 degrees of timing out of it and it really gets radical.

This is the kind of answer I am looking for. There are "theories" that the two are not supposed to work but everyone who has tried it has had good results. Kinda like me running 800 rwhp with just the BAP, 60#ers, and the Racetronix. That's not supposed to happen either. It is all in the tune.

Anyone else?

It's in my signature at the bottom - slightly bigger than a Thunder Racing T-Rex
T-ReX v.2 - 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa 3500-6700 RPM Power Band. Violent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning, 4000+ converter on autos, 4.30's or greater depending on transmission.
Don't fear the big cam....

i dont think a huge lopey cam is the best idea for a turbo car. you need to get a turbo specific cam

Yep, that's what some say, but others who are actually doing it are doing just fine. No, a big cam will not compliment the turbos in the best possible way. If I were racing in competition all the time, I would not put one in. I'd keep what I have cuz it is just about perfect. I would never recommend to a customer to put it in because it would be better.

Now, with all that said. You can't do it? That means I'm gonna do it. You can tune for it. I'll probably even lose some low end grunt but guess what I'll get on the top end? As I mentioned above, if I lose the low end, I have a brand new giggly kit sitting in the garage right now.

I say go for it. There is no fun in life if you don't try things that are different than the accepted norm.

I still think you will loose power on all ends, but who cares if it is what you want.

I think you'll make bigger numbers on the top end. As the reason these cams make more power N/A is the more cylinder pressure is built up. I think it'll be the same with boost, except on the low end there's a bit more over lap and thus a bit of boost leakage. So, if you're able to still run the same boost, i think the peak numbers will be much higher.

just my predictions. When's the new cam going in?

this is a fact....big cams make power if you have everything else set up properly. na, blown or turbo'd, it doesn't matter. my 1/8 mile times cross over to mid 8's in the 1/4 @ upper 150's. this is on 15lbs. granted my car has big tires and a drag suspension, but how many people can pull off any sort of 8 sec pass on 15lbs??? my cam is a W2W spec and it is VERY close to EG's. and I turn the engine 6500 rpms, not 7500. I'm sure it gives up a little on the bottom, but a 402 makes plenty there anyway. people can quote theories about minimal overlap all they want. I believe in the numbers on the bottom of the timeslip.

Haven't yet. No way can I even think about working on the car before the end of the year so it is kinda at the back of my mind right now. I'm still trying to find time to get to the track. Last weekend when I could go it was closed for some renovation stuff.
