Well, I got to enjoy my SC'd 98 for a couple of months, but now I lost oil pressure. Long story with the original build, but short version is the car was started w/o the rear oil channel plug and it ran for 3o seconds with no oil. Also, when we got that fixed and got pressure, we had a little air in the oil because the intake tube ring seal was a little crooked. Murphy's Law - What can go wrong Will go wrong. Anyway, the pressure went this week. Engine was shut down before there was anything but just a little head chatter so I am sure the crank is fine. I just need to replace the bearings.
Q: Can you drop the bottom support, jack the engine up a little and remove the pan and bearings WITHOUT pulling the engine, or does the engine have to come out?? My mechanic is saying it has to come out. $1,000 vs $2,000 on the labor.
Thanks,
Dave
P.S. Car sure was fun before it died. A little over 500rwhp. VERY conservative tune
Yes its gonna have to come out. (That is, to do it right)
PLUS, if your gonna be spending that kind of money, you might as well find someone with a take out Z06 shortblock. I think theres a member in the F/S section thats selling his 31,000 mile 2002 Z06 shortblock for 1000 bucks. This way you can pull it, and then just toss in another one.

Once the motor swap is done, you can your your original block inspected and then sell off all the good parts to offset the ZO6 shortblock.
