Default Active handling Warming up - WTH

Just had a TTi kit installed and I am getting the Active handling warm up on the DIC. My car is a 2000 A4 with standard suspension. Why is this coming up? What is the cause?

Thanks,
The Big Dog

Hrm..was the PCM completely reflashed with a different file?
BCM reprogrammed?
I have run into an issue recently with a bug in HP that creats a tcs issue but who knows.

Does it stay on or does it go away after a few minutes?

My old 04 would occasional give me same message in spite of summer day (80+ degrees). Although always going away after a few blocks.

To my knowledge never had any adverse effects.

Mine message does not go away untill you manually reset. I did notice that the Corvette symbol comes on each time like it is turned off. Even when I go to competitive driving it is erased by the code.

Is this fixable or what?

Frustrated,

Try giving it time, if "warmup complete" or something like that does not appear shortly after the problem may be more serious. Now my 04 was temperamental from a electrical standpoint and occasionaly do some strange things but problems never persisted for long and were pseudo random.

My previous C5 did say active handling warming up on DIC but at what I would consider a appropriate time (very cold winter day) and did go away. Length of time largely depended on starting temperatures.

Any other gremlins?

Mike

The only gremlins is in the active handling. Car runs like a batt out of hell...almost scarry. I did not give it time to complete the cycle. As soon as it popped up I would reset.

The problem is as I read it the car does NOT HAVE ACTIVE HANDLING.

IF thats the case, something is a miss in the BCM setup telling the pcm it has active handling or something is fubared in the pcm tune.

In front of your power steering there's this big square aluminum thing. Right under your intake conduit there's an electrical connector with lots of wires on it. Check to make sure the connector is plugged in all the way.

no kidding...ever since I have had HP 3bar tuners software installed I have been getting an intermittent service active handling....code is steering wheel position sensor. Performed the steering wheel positions sensor test with a Tech II...and it read out fine.

If you find out what is going on can you shoot me a message and or tell Rick. Somebody should contact Keith at HPTuners to advise.

Check your analog steering voltage with a tech II with the wheels straight should be 2.5v +/- .1 or so. That's the most common problem when the steering code (C1286) is actually thrown. I have also seen the plastic locating tabs for the sensors broke off and it will move a bit intermittently throwing the code.

After putting my car in SD mode using HP tuners (v1.18 I believe) by disabling the MAF, my car would throw MAF & AH codes then go into reduced power mode. I disconnected the MAF, not realizing that the IAT was connected at the same point. This fixed the reduced power mode, but the AH warming up notice came on for 15-25 minutes before going out on each startup. I then used HP tuners 2.2 and downloaded the entire VCM and reloaded to the car, reattached the MAF/IAT connector and the two problem were solved (AH warming up and reduce power mode).

Problem turned out to be the EBCM, replaced with a rebuilt one. Problem solved for me.

Sometimes the simplest things are the cause of problems..my guess is it's the IAT sensor.

While you had your airbridge off during the install.. you have one of 3 problems.

1. The IAT sensor was not plugged back in
2. You have a broken wire in the IAT Sensor Connector
3. You have a bad IAT sensor

Unhook the steering from the steering rack with the wheels straight. With the key on, measure the analog voltage from the steering sensor and rotate until is 2.5ish. Just keep an eye on the analog voltage and make sure your going in the right direction.
