Peter,, do you think the air ducts are possibly calapsing from all the suction? .. maybe Dan or someone else can test the car with the ducts off.. it takes 2 minutes to take them off.. i wish i had thought of that when i was at LAPD last month.. that would be awesome if that is the only issue.. looking at the LPE car the only diffrence i see between the aps and LPE kit is the LPE uses piping not the accordian style on the APS kit.
thanks Peter for taking the time to answer the questions
I don't currently believe that the inlet hoses are collapsing under high vaccum though anything is possible at very high power levels................I think it's more likely to be a mass air flow restriction in the air inlet ducts at high boost levels.
race must be from a DIG and you have to RUn full boost in 1st gear
when APS figures it out and i can make over 800 we can play ..
i have never seen you 1/4 mile numbers? do you have any?
I can't run full boost in 1st. My numbers are @ 15 PSI and the motor was built to hold atleast 25. Car was tracked once 2 years ago on a CCW drag package and still had no traction. We were fresh off the dyno with an A/F of 9.2 to be safe right after the build with 400 on the clock.
Turned the boost down to 12 psi and only made 2 runs.
Nothing has changed since you left. So many stout cars rolling around. When I asked Dr. Phil to build my combo I mentioned to him I wanted to be able to keep up with 1000rwhp Supras.. I think that is very possible once I get the enhanced tune and run some higher octane fuel. I just hope the rest of the Dr. Phil combo is up to the task. Dr. Phil reports all the time no one has maxed out the standard X turbos yet. I dont plan on maxing them out, but I will dyno up to 18-20lbs max if the clutch will hold and pray the fuel system will not let me down. At this point I could care less if something breaks. Atleast I will know the weak point in this system..
i had a 96 TA with 150 shot back then and remember gettting my Azz handed to me by a 911 eddie bello licesne plate "AIRSHOW" ( pulled the front tires off the ground in first and second )guy beat me a full highway ... it sounded like jet airplane when he nailed it . he was running at moroso 9's at 163 .. with AC in STREET form running 163!!!! ..that was back in 96.. he was a legend back then..
HE told me he eats vipers with N20 without trying..
BTW I'm not running a stock out of the box TTi X kit, FYI.
Me not scared.. Must be nice to have an upgraded X kit!! I guess I better be on my p's and q's.... We will have to set something up when it gets cooler out. Hopefully nothing breaks b4 winter.

Works for me but not to pull any punches Doug is my jockey!

TY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was also on a cold track with no DHT, on and off the brakes as it was all over the place from the 660 on.

should be a good race
Vince , you will have to have your A game to beat Jersey
Nah.. rule 6534 chapter 34 in the racing guide states:
"The Owner must race his own horse" unless the owner of the vehicle is impaired or has missing limbs"
the only other exceptions are the owner must wear a "Skirt with Pom Poms as a cheerleader". then he may be excused from driving.
so Jersey you must represent your Horse

LOL!!! If we do get this race off it will happen on a hidden track from a 20 to 155mph sprint.. My vette does not visit the track anymore.
The turbine flow of the C5 turbochargers will max out at around 850-900 rwhp (dyno jet) at around 18 PSI pressure. I think it's far more likely that the turbo air entry inlet ducts are restrictive at high boost levels and this is where our engineering guys will start testing when the ZO6 arrives at APS, hope that helps,
Peter
what about the c6 kit it probably has the same problem.
To make the power out of the C5 APS kit, CARTEK did modify the inlet piping. CARTEK was able to test where the restriction was and engineer their own inlet piping that works great. The turbos are NOT too small by any means. The type of hose used in the kit is NOT the issue. This is why I use CARTEK as a tuner. Julio really knows his stuff when it comes to tuning/engine building and turbos.
So tomorrow all APS owners around the country will wake up tomorrow and have their local shops make them a inlet tube and everyone will be happy with their APS kit.

To define Max from Cartek’s comment “tweaking” What he meant by that, is we kept playing with the AFR, Running the kit with the exhaust off. Exhaust off from the intermediate pipes. We didn’t want to just take the mufflers off and melt the spring on the rear suspension. We ran the car with C16, with 93 octane, exhaust off, exhaust on. Different boost levels. ETC… We had a lot of trouble getting the Boost controller to work properly. For anyone who is interested in the controller, it was an AMS -1000. It is awesome, but it is real hard to configure. Once we got it working, it was amazing. If there were any secrets to this kit, I would have to say it is the boost controller, and how it maintains boost. We did not change the springs, they are still 8lbs.
.
I get RIPPED by everyone for saying it makes no sense ..and like i said it could be the slightest modification to the kit that could change the outcome and alot of people come out and say im a hater and chit..
sooooo.. the puzzle is coming along.. a few weeks later Peter come out and says
" I think it's far more likely that the turbo air entry inlet ducts are restrictive at high boost levels and this is where our engineering guys will start testing when the ZO6 arrives at APS, hope that helps"
Ill take it that Cartek told Peter about the inlets and thus we are here today with a Poissble answer to the mystery of why these kits run out of steam after 12 psi.
Adam it was might big of you to come out and share and Confirm the Missing link
