Default torque tube question- help me debug

I am hearing a whine from just north of my shifter.
Its louder in 6th gear than 1st, at the same RPM.
There is no shake or vibrations in the shifter
For lack of a better description, it sounds like a ground loop on a bad stereo installation (mine is still stock)

I have a RPM level 5 transmission, and its working flawlessly.

I was thinking its probably a bearing in the torque tube.....
What do you think?

My next questions is......
Since there isnt any one that can press bearings into a torque tube around me... Is it cheaper to just buy a new one?

Send it out to RPM to be repaired. They sell the parts.

So.. you think it would be cheaper to ship a torque tube to RPM than to by a new one from the dealer?

Get in touch with RPM.

It is not that expensive to ship one to them.

Another tube will cost you over $500 used.

The last one that they redid for me, was much less than that, shipping included.

That is cheap... RPM told me the bearings were $395.00 alone.

I cant image it would be under cheap to send a torque tube from AZ.

its it a ton of labor to press new bearings?

What is preventing a shop from doing it locally?

Here is pics of 2 torque tubes. The first one the coupling started to fall apart till it went to dust. This wrecked the torque tube by cutting holes in it. The second is the bolts ripped out of the tube completely, somehow the customer still drove it over 100 miles to me this way. From the same car 1 year later.

I'm having ECS built me a new shaft with u-joint's instead of those crappy couplers.

Not calling you a liar, but I think you are mistaken here.

Maybe I heard TJ wrong... but he told me a rebuild kit was 395.00...

Maybe RPM can jump in here to clarify..

What is needed to convert to a u-joint set up.

That might be right, I am not sure what is included.
If you need the couplers too, they are not cheap.
