I just picked up my car today with the A&A Vortech T trim install finished and tuned. The outside temps were 100 degrees for my 25 mile freeway drive home.

I ran all sorts of rpm water temp tests and getting on it through the gears and these are results which I am amazed with and could not be possible without the front license plate screen mod. 160 thermostat installed.

6th gear at 1500 rpm water temp 183 degrees.
5th gear at 2700 rpm water temp 190 degrees.
4th gear at 3500 rpm water temp 199 degrees.
3rd gear at 4000 rpm water temp 204 degrees.

I made several full throttle runs slowing down to 2nd gear each time and going through to 4th and staying steady at speed and temp was 210 but never higher.

Got into town and stop and go traffic for 3 miles going no more than 35 mph still 100 degrees out temps never rose above 194. Sitting at a light they stayed at 190.

I just went out and it was 75 out. on the freeway I was a constant 180 degrees pretty much whatever I was doing staying i nthe 2700-3000 rpm range all the time. If it rose during some bursts off speed it never went higher than 190 and then dropped right back down to 180. If I dropped it into 6th at 1400 rpm temps went to 175. In city stop and go it never went above 185 or below 178.

My low speed fans come on at 180 off at 170. High fans on at 190 off at 180 I think my tuner said.

I cannot stress how much better cooling is with the license plate screen mod. Anyone who experiences any type of hot running needs to try it and if nothing else your IAT's will drop and you wont be pulling any timing or as much since stock pulling starts at like 86 degrees.

Those #'s look good.. You coming up to Thill on 9/26? It'll be great to post up temps when on the track as a comparison.

btw... welcome to FI

briann510, thanks for the info. I might just buy another plate cover and see what kind of results I get myself next time I go. shouldn't be hard at all to swap plates in between sessions. I also like the idea of an extractor hood like someone mentioned above, I really think that would be the best of both worlds.

The plate covers are starting to show up a lot more now. There is a guy on Ebay selling screened carbon fiber ones for $200, and a $40 rebate if you send him your solid cover. Pretty expensive but thats Vette tax on it.

Do you have both of your fender extractor plastic covers removed (or whatever they are called)? The extra air has to have some place to exit even though the battery side one is partially blocked it still helps. I removed both my fender extractor covers and think it helped altho I could hit 160 before and the hood buffeting wasnt a problem. I was up to 165 today and it felt just fine and hood wasnt buffeting at all.

I doubt it only because every other car on the track was giving point bys.
I didn't have any problems getting point by's from any other car except the slobaru.

honestly I don't remember, that was the old Z.

but on my new NA track ratt that I have the same tunnel port on....I might as well rip em out, sounds like extra weight (as did the stereo, insulation, wipers, cats, mufflers....)

I have to keep telling myself that its not a race, its an HPDE. if I get behind someone who is slower I focus on driving my line until they realize I'm there and point me by.
having a junkbox that you're not too concerned about paint quality on has its benefits.....gives you the ability to ride their bumper with no care nor fear of stone chips so they really get the point, you want to get past them.

Z06's that run lap times near my 911 have real issues with cooling and hardware reliability. Yer gonna hafta pay to play but it can be done.
