A little off topic but the way the BOV's are routed back into the system (bypass), can i disconnect it so it blows off into the atmosphere to get some sound out of them? From what I understand, its not a problem since its before the MAF but I want to confirm it before I risk blowing something.
This is definantly going to be a problem for me because I am not at stock ride height and Im guessing they will rub pretty bad. I thought this would turn up and be an issue

All of the lowered APS cars Ive been under, that still have the pancake pipes, are even further flattened. Not sure but it would seem as if you might run the tubes inside the A-Arm like (I think TTI ) and that would take that away.??

You'll be fine. I'll be doing the same thing until I can swing some turbosmart supersonic kompacts for that not so sleeper effect.

As for the pancake pipes......my car is lowered as far as it will go on the stock bolts, no bushings were cut or anything. I've got a couple of small scrapes on my pancake pipes, but I've been VERY cautious when I'm out and about with the car. Still one thing I really want to get rid of though.

TTi runs the inlet pipes across and over the front cradle area, near the PS rack, and the charge pipes are similar to the APS setup, alongside the outer frame rail.

There is just not a lot of room on these cars.

I just had a thought......how difficult would it be to get it to where a pipe could make it's way behind the rear of the front wheel wells and put a filter in there on each side?? IIRC there's a bit of room in there, and it would be out of the way, free from debris and engine heat, and is in relatively close proximity to the Turbo's.

On another note, something that's REALLY irritating me is that APS knows there's an issue with these inlets on the C5 kits but does nothing about it. I say nothing knowing they have 70mm inlet tubes they made a couple of sets of, but for some reason just up and dropped the project.

Case in point, look at the kits to come out after the C5 kit was released. Note the distinct lack of a majority of the inlet being non-hard tubes and a VERY notable lack of pancake pipes on the inlet side of things.

C6 ZO6:

GTO and G8 (so similar I used the same pic):

F-Body Standard and Extreme Kits:

Seems they learned their lesson with the C6 and C5 kits, then abandoned them with the newer stuff not bothering to support the previous buyers. I have emailed and PM'd Peter @ APS on MULTIPLE occasions concerning the purchase of a set of 70mm Inlet Tubes for my car, and my last response from him was, and I quote directly from a PM:

For sure you would benefit from larger inlet pipes. Unfortunately, (as of now) we have not put the larger C5 pipes into production as we have been very busy with other projects.

Sorry that I could not assist you,

Cheers,

Peter
Seems that they've made their money and are content with that.

That being said, I have a friend who's a fabricator. I'm in contact with him now, and I want to query the APS guys here on the forum. Would you guys be interested in a non-recirculating (air vented BOV setup) inlet setup for teh APS systems if I could do it with hard inlet tubes, a properly sized filter, and do it for around $300ish a set give or take (just a number to toss out really, I'd be surprised if it was that much). As soon as I get my car back I'm going to pop some panels off and start getting this worked on.

thats sad that there is a good replacement and that they found their error, yet refuse to release it.

There is simply not alot of room on the vette chassis, which drove APS' decision to use the pancake pipes under the car.

All the other cars you mentioned have much more room to run piping than the vette.

The C6 Z06 kit is supposed to be a higher-effort kit, so APS reversed the charge and inlet pipes to account for the greater airflow of the 427.

That is actually your best solution, to create piping to mimic the C6 Z06 inlet pipes, and the use of the pancakes for the charge pipes.

It could be done fairly easy that way, with some moderate fab work.

It is good to see people bouncing ideas off of each other though to come up with a decent solution. I just dont see how those pancake inlets are going to work with my car being low like it is. I would absolutly love to find a way to put them in the fenders somehow but there is no way for me to help right now not actually having the kit in my hand.

I am going to tr to take it slow once I get my kit in my hands and just see what I/we can come up with

And that's my exact point though, that APS swapped the routing for the charge and inlet sides on the C6Z kits, the only kit that utilized the pancake pipes that came out after the C5 kit.

APS is well aware of the issues, but they're NOT stepping up to the plate. Admittedly, I'm a bit peeved at them, especially the brush off I got from Peter after being the first guy to actually receive their TT kit for the C5's here in the states, jumping on board like I did.

As soon as I get my car back home I'm going to pull the front panels off and have a look. I've been studying pictures all day of how the car looks with the fenders off and think there might be some room in there, but I'm very concerned about space on the passenger side with the PCM where it is.

I hear you.
I thought about getting in touch with APS to see if they would sell just the cast inlet pipes from the C6Z kit, but I imagine they will be expensive.
I don't doubt they are avoiding a complete retrofit for all the C5/C6 kits because of expense.
I'm sure they don't want to eat that cost, and then you have the fact that Cartek was able to get big power out of the C5 kit, so there is some data to suggest APS has supplied the kit in as-advertised form with the numbers to back it up.
I'm certainly no apologist for APS, just touching on some reasons why they may not feel compelled to forcefully pursue the issue.
You are basically left to your own ingenuity on this one.
I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Just got done looking at the car. A filter behind the fender on the ds is completely feasible, but the PCM on the ps kills that. there IS room for a filter on the turbo with a short pipe, but it would have to be small and would be very prone to heat soak. Car isn't done so it will be a couple weeks before I can look into anything.

Some info on rubbing.

We can raise the ride height on the front of the car to compensate for the added weight. So far I read it can be done on the stock bolts.

That was a thought, and might work for a full out track car, but most street car guys don't want to have a battery shutoff poking out the back of the car.

I am however going to get in there and see if you can't relocate the PCM slightly from it's factory location to give a little more room for an air filter setup.

You should have plenty of room in there even with the computers there. There is ALOT of room inside those fenders.

That's what I'm hoping. But getting a decently sized duct through there is another story. The PCM is really hogging all the prime real estate in there on the passenger side.
