erratic boost,
just had it re-tuned off the springs and it goes up to 7psi and comes down gradually.never goes below 5 psi under boost.the tuner turned up the turbonetics BC one turn and it went to 9.5psi @2600 rpm and 463 hp.he of coarse jumped out of it.
some say i am plumed wrong, compression rings bad, need a elec.controller, hose type, diameter, and a bunch of others.one tech at a big controller co. said i need two of everything.
the one i am asking about is venting? i don't get it and do not have it.
please someone put up a d.i.y. pluming diagram that shows all
sounds to me like a boost leak, or you're losing boost out of your wastegate. i do agree with your tuner that you need an electronic boost controller, i mean, for god sake it's a corvette, not a civic LOL
going to have to wait for a ebc.wife just gave the go a head at dinner for 10.5 wheels for the Hoosiers and a all aluminum two row.
I'll recheck for leaks ,i never thought it would be an issue with big turbos.
thanks ,mike
Truthfully I love manual controllers over EBC's. Alot more control but you have to have the right controller. We run the STS style controllers and they have worked flawless for 6+ years so far.
OK,
i just ordered a ball and spring MC with a vent.it is a cheapy but i will try it.i read were the turbonetics MC i am using is not vented and balances the pressure.i will try manifold vacuum vs. compressor too.
the wg's are from mainland china(manufacturer) and are a tail copy.the bases have a inconel alloy along with 6061 all billet caps.i put in tail springs and seats.i am a machinist by trade and i checked these for tolerance and they are within .0015 on all dim.my wife if from hong kong so it was easier for me to get them.they have a min. order of 100 pieces.

Spend the money and get a QUALITY wastegate (Tial, TurboSmart, etc..) It may just cost you an engine. I had those cheap wastegates spike as much as 10 PSI (cost me a new engine) on my 1995 Cobra T64 Precision single. Live and Learn. Also, make sure you are referencing the manifold, not the compressor. BTW
i did allot off research on the gates, boost spike is very little as seen on two dyno sessions(15+pulls)and lots of street .when it comes to metal i trust tolerance ,material and machine quality.these are true copies of a proved design.they have been race tested in Japan.i am sure my troubles are on me.twice now i boosted 18psi.i have no vent in the sys.as i understand it this caused pressure to equalize the top and bottom of the gate.i have never been able to find a simple pic. of a TWIN set up w/ a MC.i will try the vented MC and re checked for leaks.by friday i should know.i just want 7-8 psi and not cocerned about hp.
i did get 503whp w/ 5psi hot.
thanks mike

Those gates are no way a exact copy , one of my close friends is a big part of TiAL and we actually made comparisions , and needless to say it is different in every way , besides having a slant eye copy a great american design with no knowledge behind what the R&D was behind it ...
Then again i maybe wrong , But will your wife let you spend a small amount on real proven gates made in the good old USA
or is she gonna a approve a motor build ????
Good luck , Like it was said earlier , Sack up and spend the money , You have a Corvette not a Honda Civic !!
have you ever been?
my wife is Chinese and her brother is manufacturers rep in china(HK).i my self am a class A all around machinist, some say tool maker.you must re think your position. the NEW China is more educated(here and abroad)ever hear off Asian that didn't get all A"'s?my wife tutors my kids in honors classes and she never went to school here.
they have all the newest technology and not to mention the newest and best CNC equipment.i started out at 17 making aircraft fuel injection parts in the 70's.the US had it's **** together in industry.now it is not the case.i spent a year in south Africa in 2002.they make BMW and Mercedes cars for export there. but we only make some of the suv's here for our market.i gave Mexico a year along with Puerto Rico.
we my retire in Honk Kong to boot.
go to alibaba .com and do some reading.it is the Asian e-bay but mostly manufactures.you can have anything made to spec with a mini mun order.a buddy found out that the headers for the PTK copy were $89.00 a set.
my gates are race tested in Japan and it took a bit to talk the company in to selling two.they have a 100min. order
any way the cheapy spring and ball from MD. came today and fixed my troubles.9#'s rock solid so i backed off a little.
thanks for all the help,
i just my be getting the hang of it
