Default Belt preference

After running a gates green strip 8rib for quite a few years,I am about to try the Goodyear Gatorback on a few recommendations. Is that the CF belt of choice with procharger D1?Any input is appreciated.

For an FI application the poly cog is not the best choice.
This is just my opinion only.
Here's my reasoning:
The gaps between the cogs will increase slip (belt rib material is deleted).
In an FI application you want all the ribs in the belt to engage into the pulleys.
Max engagement or contact between the belt and pulley is the objective, right?
Poly Cog is intentionally designed with part of the ribs in the belt missing.

Default Another 2 cents.

I think the idea with a cog belt is it wraps around a mid/small pully without compressing the ID of the belt thus giving it a softer better bite than the compressed hard surface of the non cog belt that has a tendency to slip, glaze, and squeal. Cog belts also run cooler. Older piston ac compressors created a lot of load on the "double belt" systems. The cog belt always fixted the problem. Remember that as the cog belt wraps around a pully the less the cog gap becomes. Just another way of looking at it.

They only make a small number of HD belts. I'm using the 8-rib 903. Working great so far. Holding 18psi with no belt slip.

That's what conventional wisdom would say-but how can you argue with the Renegade Mustang class where racers make 30+ psi of boost and run low 8's over 160 mph with a curb weight of 3500lbs and cubes as small as 302's.

EVERY racer in that class is limited to a 8 rib belt and they ALL run the Dayco Polycog belt.

Now from my own testing-whenever a Gates belt has slipped, a switch over to a Dayco or Goodyear fixed that-right away.

The way I understand it, the poly cog prevents air from being trapped between the belt and pulley, kinda like the Reichart pulleys, but from the belt perspective.
