Default Centri Blower Step Up Ratio's

I am on a quest to find the ultimate street application which utilizes a Centri Blower Head Unit.

My goal is to achieve approx 750rwhp @ 15 PSI for street use. I plan to have the option to pully the blower application above 900rwhp in the future. This system will be run with a Flip Drive, 8 or 10 Rib pully system and 8" Innovative Balancer.

Centri Head Unit Options :

1: Procharger F1A (4.25 Pully) 5.4 Step Up Ratio
2: Novi 2000 (3.25 Pully)
3: Vortech YSi (3.12 Pully)

Questions :

What are the step up ratios of the Vortech YSI & Novi 2000 ?

What boost levels can I expect with these pully sizes ?

Will anyone want to race me ?

Novi 2000 is a 3.54, Novi 2500 is 3.5

YSi is a 3.45, V27 gearbox is a 4.21

And yeah, I'll race you anytime

Effecient motor = less boost = more power.

Arun,

How can I calculate impeller speed ?

Can you also give me an idea of boost levels I can expect in contrast with pully sizes ?

Procharger f1a 4", 4.25", 4.5"
Vortech YSI 3", 3.12", 3.33"

I know the Novi puts down approx 20psi with 2.75 pully, 17-18psi with a 3" Pully, so I would expect 15psi out of the 3.25 pully.

impeller speed:

Crank pulley diameter/blower pulley diameter X stepup X RPM

Some blowers like to be spun past peak, some don't, some will make boost, some will only make heat.

Boost level is too hard to determine, too many factors, but every .25 in pulley size is usually 1.5 to 2 psi.

Again boost is just a restriction-try to make the most power with the least amount of boost and your motor will last a long time.

Going on my 5th season with my 402.

I hope some of the guys will chime in with what pully sizes they use and what boost levels they are at in combination with a flip drive and 8" balancer.

I understand that cubic inch and cam size will effect the end result, but it would be a good start.

Procharger was nice enough to give us an idea of what you can expect out of each head unit. I like how they give you the step up ratio and max impeller speed ... this info helps

Ok, I did some calculations based on what I believe will achieve 15 psi at 7000rpm ...

Vortech YSi 3.33 Pully = 58,000 RPM
Novi 2000 3.25 Pully = 61,000 RPM
Procharger F1A 4.25 Pully = 71,000 RPM

Anyone of the blowers you mentioned can acheive 900-1000rwhp! Now wether you make 750rwhp on 15psi who cares. As long as the motor is built right and the tune is in check, just let her rip!

Well I want to keep the power down under 800rwhp on the street so I can still hook a 345 drag radial. Not looking to spin 4th gear

Thats the important part.
Boost pressure should not be used to dictate power level.

600rwh for the street is more then enough, if you want to keep her out of the shop.:

Don't listen to Funtool. He just wants to keep you at a lower power level so he can keep his 'Novi Smasher' title.

Not sure what motor is in your car but check out my build thread. I have a built 402 and made 750+rwhp on 14# of boost on my novi 2k. This is with a cam made for a 346 and AFR 205 heads. Swapping those two, keeping boost constant, should bump power up significantly
