Default dyno/boost question

I recently bought the AA's new style dongle (4") and their new style air filter as well to install onto my procharger. The previous shop that had done the original procharger installation had not even put a filter on the procharger and simply had a mesh screen "hose clamped" directly to the inlet of my procharger (P-1SC1). My question is how much HP/boost will be lost installing the New AA dongle/filter setup as opposed to the mesh screen that was previously being used? Has anyone tested flow (on a dyno) on the new AA dongle setup compared with no filter? Just curious.

Back in my turbo Honda days a shop actually posted a dyno showing like a 15-20 whp GAIN using an air filter on the turbo inlet compared to a screen

It will probably be around 2psi (maybe more) lost would be my guess, that's about what is gained when switching the dongle to a 4" tube and filter.

does that even include AA's new 4" dongle and filter? Have people compared the new AA dongle to the 4" straight pipe on a dyno yet? I know there previous dongle was smaller and more restrictive. I didn't know if the new dongle flows a lot better or not?

The new dongle is a lot better than the old one, but a 4" pipe with still outflow it. The only thing with the 4" pipe is in most cases will not fit without a cut down radiator. For a street car with stock radiator the dongle is a very good way to go.

They were probably pulling hot air straight off the headers if an air filter gained power on a turbo car. With my turbo car, 80mm, putting the biggest air filter I can find, 5"-12", resulted in a HUGE power loss, and I have built a few home turbo setups, and they all ran alot slower with and air filter on them. My former t-trimmed mustang would suck the big k@n damn near inside out. The blower setup I just purchased for my corvette came with a k@n that is damn near totally collapsed, so I am guessing that it is a big restriction.

To the OP, you will see a difference, how much I don't know, but you will see it. FWIW I have ran my turbo car, for about 3 years with the exact wire screen hose clamped on the front of it and have had no issues. BUT, as I'm sure you know, that is definitely not the best way to run it.
