Mind change
After seeing all the responces on this max cube debate I'm having second thoughts. Don't want to start another thread. First ? How many safe cubes could a 6.0L iron ls block attain? Bore, stroke? What needs to be done of corse YSI s/c'ed. Where talking just the block because this could go on forever with heads, cam, you know where i'm getting at. Thanks
Looking for more cubes by the way, but seems 427 or 434 might be to much????

You can't go over a 4.00" stroke on the LQ9 block and making the cylinders real big on that particular block is asking for trouble on a FI application. Hence the reason FI guys who want more cubes usually end up with a factory large displacement block or an aftermarket race Block.
So to answer your question, if you have the extra money and the desire for more cubes and the potential for more power while stressing the engine less, a 427 and larger is good and feasible just not with the LQ9 Block.

416 is as much as you want to go on the LQ9 block. Guys always use a 4.0" stroke crank. Here's the thing though, Let's say you build a 402 with the iron block which is a 4.00" inch stroke with 4.005 inch pistons (if I recall correctly) this is good because your leaving room for an over bore on the cylinders should you have to in th future and most of all in the grand scheme of things your not going to notice a huge difference in power with a YSi on a 402 vs a 416. There will be the potential for a significant power difference once you reach the 427 and larger territory. However, if i recall correctly the LQ9 block won't safely support that type of piston size with a blower.

I am trying out the YSi on my new 06Z06 ... 396ci 4.125 bore 3.625 Stroke. See how the ls7 square port head does with good size cam when I spin it 7500+. Backing that up with 8" Balancer and 2.95 Blower Pully, 10 Rib Conversion
I am hoping to put down 1000rwhp.

Doesnt matter how many cubes you use it'a all about airflow-said that the YSi can only move a certain amount of air-which means even if you have a 311 cube motor or a 440 cube motor it's only going to make 1000rwhp.
Fastest YSi pull to date is 5.10@140 mph-some food for thought. This was accomplished with 377 cubes at a weight of 3330.
If your running a a class and your limited too say a 275 tire-are you going to need all that torque?

5.10 in a stang or actual vette?

Seem like no matter what you do the YSI is out of air when the car makes around 1,k rwhp and some like 850 rwtq..Not much more in the unit at all... Robert
