Default Ysi. Max cubes?

How big (cubes) is to big? Lookin at doin a full race drag radial set up. 02 SS camaro. Are mid to low 8s (1/4), low 5s (1/8) possible? Whats it gonna take to get it done? What combo will it take? I brought this ? here, due to u guys here are using this type of blower. The ford guys have been low 8s, low 5s, why can,t we? Holler back. Thanks, Phil.

Seen 9.0's with 2 cars using the YSi in 3500+lb Z06's. One has a 427. That was turning the blower at max impeller speed or faster.

I think low 5 are posible. I have been 5.80 full weight 9.0s in 1/4. I will be going back next month to get into 8s.

There was an Aussie Ute than ran low 8's on a YSi. Think traps were mid-high 160's
Dont have much info on it though

Should be not problem running mid to low 8's with the proper trans & weight.
If someone would let me borrow one, I'd prove it.

A glide and a race weight of 2700lbs will help!

At 2700, low 8's high 7's is very doable. I'm 3180 race weight, 8.4- 8.5 is probably the max.

I guess nobody knows what the max cubes is. My next build I'm going to go with 427 stroked to 434 with ysi or f2 or something like that. I would think as long as it breaths and forged there is no limit.502cu ???????

I'm in the process of building a new bullet for my 02. Either going with a 434 or 427 and keeping my YSi. Not really going for an ET, just a street bruiser.

For a full race set up I would do a 434-440ci spinning the crap out of that blower. The ysi is very efficient and the renegade racers run them with no intercoolers and a race weight of 3200 have gone low 8's.

I would suggest the following:

440ci
AFR 245 or TFS 245 heads
Fast 102
2" headers
C16

Yup. Not enough people give the YSi a chance. Its been a proven blower for years now. I'm going to spin the ever loving shiat out of mine.

Doesnt matter how many cubes you use it'a all about airflow-said that the YSi can only move a certain amount of air-which means even if you have a 311 cube motor or a 440 cube motor it's only going to make 1000rwhp.

Fastest YSi pull to date is 5.10@140 mph-some food for thought. This was accomplished with 377 cubes at a weight of 3330.

If your running a a class and your limited too say a 275 tire-are you going to need all that torque?

Exactly. But your saying the YSi won't make anymore than 1,000?
