Default Need for Speed.... Help!

Hello. New member to the Family here. I have a 2002 c5 automatic coupe completely stock. It was willed to me by my Grandfather so for personal reasons. I would never consider trading in or selling it. But I do have a problem.

I have a ridiculous obsession with speed, therefor I own several Super sport Bikes, but have yet to venture into the world of Sports cars until now.
I absolutely love the car it's beautiful from the outside but being the base automatic model it does not quench my thirst for speed, so my question is would it be worth my investment to modify? With it being automatic and the base c5 ls1 engine.
In other words how uncommon is it for an auto c5 to have say after market cams and heads installed or a supercharge system along with exhaust and intakes? And could it handle it if I also planned on fixing gear ratios, and tranny. And if I had some mods done to the auto transmission all for speed and horses. Good idea? Or should I swallow my need for speed and cruise around?

Thank You

Call A&A or ECS in regards to your need for speed.. They will have you covered.

As far as the trans goes, let it ride till it blows up or call RPM for a built one.

Thats my $.02

Stick with sport bikes. Much cheaper and WAY less headaches.

If you have some coin to drop, then I'm with Breecher...call ECS or A&A and have them hook you up with one of their supercharger kits.

Add a set of 3.42 rear gears and a higher stall torque converter to one of the SC kits for a little more speed if needed

Depends on what you are talking about here. If you are talking about flat out racing...above 100MPH...then they are both dangerous. If you have the proper gear on a bike, you can survive pretty bad wrecks. Therw was a guy at the track that fell off going 230MPH on a bike...he suffered a concussion and a broke ankle.

I have had some serious close calls on my Bikes and consider myself very lucky. Family have urged me now is the time to make the bike to car switch, and I agree.

I'm more interested in 0-60/60-100 speed over top end.

Just wasn't sure of installing a supercharger on an auto, haven't heard of to many of them, but if it can be done and will work well with a new tranny. Then that is the route I will go

Thanks!

As an owner of both several sport bikes and a built (900 RWHP) C5, take it from me; stick with the two wheelers. A late model, stock 1000 cc sport bike will pretty well embarrass most street driven, modded 'vettes.

I agree Bike speed can not be matched, but I feel it's best for me to make the switch at this time. But wow 900rwhp

800 whp should be the magic number for liter bike dominance. I was 730 last year and would lock with them and neither would pull.

Bikes are MUCH more prone to have wrecks because OTHER drivers don't pay attention. I agree that anything is dangerous over 100 mph. I was an avid dirt bike rider, and I always wanted a GSXR-600, still do, but with a family, it is just too much risk. A shame people don't pay more attention to motorcycles. They are so much fun.

had a 02 ducati 998 with just a half system and 130 at the wheel, it was fast, but honestly was way more bike than I was a rider.

Bought a 03Z06 the next year and started spending alot less time on the bike.

3 years later started modding the vette and the bike sat and sat.

Sold it in 11 and bought a 800 cc 4wd quad and have had more fun getting my open air excitement ripping through the woods and using cars on the pavement.

I've seen too many fatal bike accidents to want another sport bike, I like them, but realize its a matter of time before something bad happens.

Of course I do have friends trying to convince me to buy a harley now, but I've never rode a big *** cruiser...
