How did F&F ruin the import scene? The first few movies were heavily biased towards imports. Paul was a HUGE import fan. I believe the EVO in the second movie was his personal car even.

I think all mattie was trying to say is that it made a lot of people go out and put folders cans, big wings and bright wheels on their honda civics. But like anything you have your serious crowd and your posers.

True that every Honda was a race car after that movie time to install a wing and Bla Bla Blaaa rice muffler

You mean there is more to modding an import than fitting it with a coffee can muffler, gorilla wing, and wheels worth 6X the car?
I drove by the crash site yesterday morning on the way to work. Still packed with people and news vans. It's really strange, no skid marks to speak of, maybe one single mark about 15-20 ft long at about a 25 degree angle into the curb, looks to be made with one tire, or two tires exactly in line. Nothing to suggest drifting or anything else.
I got to thinking, the speed limit is 45mph. The road is very wide, two lanes each way and really wide enough for a third each way. Most people drive about 55-60 mph there on a daily basis. It's all new construction, so the pavement is only about 8-10 years old and very smooth.
The question of mechanical failure is starting to come up. Rumor has it that there was a power steering and stalling issue they were dealing with, so the car was being worked on.
What do you think one of those Porsches would look like if it hit a tree at 60-70 mph?
Of course having the fuel tank in front of the car doesn't seem to be the best design feature for safety......
On another note, did you guys hear about the wedding ring he bought?
As the story goes....
He was in a jewelry store some years ago in Santa Barbara, and overheard a conversation between a recently returned service member and his fiancée about how he would love to get that ring for her but just couldn't afford $10,000.
Paul told the sales woman he was working with to put the ring on his tab, give it to them after he left and tell them it was anonymous.

Before FnF the import scene wasn't full of fart cans and grocery cart wings. After on the hand...

Go to the track and most of the best cars are beat up imports.

Who has been driving down the road and then came across a totalled vehicle that was already on fire and reached inside? ANYONE?
I have. On the way home from a track day at VMP. Horrible head on collision that resulted in a fire to one of the vehicles. My friend and I stopped and pulled both the driver and passenger out of the car. It's been about 15 years ago now.

I have to believe that the people that arrived on scene early did everything possible...at least I hope they did.
If its a matter of putting your own life in significant danger to save a stranger I can understand, but if all you were risking were some 3rd degree burns to save a life you would have to be pretty spineless not to try. With that being said, it did look like a raging fire by the time the first person arrived, and both the occupants may have already been deceased.
BTW I've driven a GT before. Its a handful and most GT owners will tell you to take it easy. I think a lesson NEEDS to be learned from this instead of the glorification the media is doing. I just got pulled over 2 days ago and the cop said to me "you must drive fast or speed often" my response was I never speed. I don't why would I!
