I bought Vortech because I too lived down the street. I lived in Olathe, just several miles from ATI, and saw numerous people with the leaking dipstick issues. Not to mention cracked cylinder walls etc.. I saw ATI come onboard from day one. I saw them install a unit on a stock Mustang LS and turn up boost to the point where cylinder cracks appeared. You own their product so you blindly support them. They make an ok product. They are not immune to prpblems. I tried to call them about their blower for the C5 and they wouldn't talk directly. They told me to call a local installer,MCI Motorsports I think, who inspired no confidence, put me on hold for a long time and never returned calls. I met with ATI at SEMA and rather than discuss the merits of their own product they tried to cut down their main rival, Vortech. Go to Vortech and ask about ATI and they don't cut down ATI's product but rather try to discuss the merits of their own products. When I call Vortech I always get to someone who answers my questions or does their best to work with me. I hope you don't flame me for this response. :chill:
By the way, many of those who bash ATI obviously know what they are talking about if they own their product. If I owned a product and bashed it on this board then anyone considering that product should reconsider. We are on this board to help each other and if I had a part on my car that didn't perform as expected then you all would want to know so you don't make the same mistake. Telling each other about problems with products should not be considered a personal attack. I think many of us take it personally when someone bashes a part that we may have researched and installed on our cars. Finding out that several people have had the same oil blowby via the dipstick on a ATI blower would **** me off if I just had one installed on my car. I would expect ATI to fess up and do a fix. I would expect any manufacturer to correct a problem like that at no charge.
Sorry but not an employee. I went to SEMA and what I said happened. Even worse ATI attributed a problem that didn't even happen on C5 blowers. Poor tech support is a problem. Using the terms idiots or monkeys is just the sign of frustration. It's a point trying to be made. You obviously know that I am well versed in ATI since the city I gave you as my former home is obvious. Facts are facts. Vortech does a much better job in dealing with customers than ATI. It's not a personal thing against you. ATI does not do a great customer service job. Vortech does or at least tries their best. Hey I'm doing a 427 project on my car and was told by Vortech that I could probably do an upgrade of my S trim rather than do a complete T Trim blower. Vortech's engineers felt the T Trim woiuld be a better fit and I wasn't happy with the costs of doing the blower switch. Vortech gave me another $250.00 for my old blower to try to satisfy me. They didn't have to do anything at all. That's customer service. :seeya
I can prove everything I said about being at SEMA and the town I lived in. I don't have any vested interest in Vortech other than that I am a happy customer. You have a problem of taking this stuff personally. If you live near ATI then give the name of the city. Olathe, KS is less than ten miles from Lenexa, where ATI originates. MCI Motorsports is the dealer that ATI refers it's local customers. True or false? :chill:

Re: Procharger Problem (Richy)
OCMIKE,
Two wraps of yellow teflon tape cured the problem.THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I guess QC fell down on the job.I would have expected that considering the
price of the unit, this problem should have been picked up at final inspection.
Hopefully, this will be the last post on this thread & we can all chill out & enjoy
the holiday.
Glad it worked! Afterall, that's what the CF is really all about. On this note, I apoligize to everyone who had to endure the unrelated diatribe. I am recovering from a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with my family (back to the Atkins Diet today!) and I agree...we need to stay focused on our many, many blessings.
jak112460 - Not trying to stir the pot, but what is a "Mustang LS"? Also who are "they" and how did "they" crack a cylinder?
Secondly the name of the distributor in the KC area is MC Racing. They can be reached at 913-789-9888. They are very busy so it would not suprise me if you had a hard time getting through. The shop is only 2 employees and as of earlier this week they had 4 procharged C5 vette's and a Procharged 97 Cobra in the shop. Tatooed is correct that they have done tons of ati installs on C5's as well as plenty of LS1 FBody's and trucks.
Before someone gets their underoo's in a bind, yes I am a former employee of theirs. I have done at least a coupe of ATI installs for people on this board and have yet to hear any problems from them.
Either way, yes ATI does have its share of issues, but having worked with almost every aftermarket company under the sun, they are above par with most.
Welp thats my $.02 back to lurking.........
Before I depart for the evening, SEMA is not the place for retail customers to ask questions. It is strictly for sales and marketing to show off product to dealers and other industry reps. It does not suprise me that you were given the cold shoulder if you approached them as a retail customer as the ATI philosophy is to direct all customers to dealers/distributors as since the dealers are making decent money on the kits, they are expected to provide full technical and sales assistance to the best of their ability.
A Mustang LS was available when ATI first started selling their product. It was a stripped down GT. MC Racing is correct. I couldn't remember if it was MCI or what. My opinion was that you should be able to call someone and get immediate help if you are having a problem with their setup. I think it was what the original post was about. When I called MC Racing I never even recieved a call back. As for SEMA, they didn't give me the cold shoulder at all. They just put down Vortech's product and gave erroneous information about a problem Vortech had in the past with one of their blowers. As a matter of fact they had a C5 their that belonged to a highschool classmate of mine, Blair Auld. That's why I visited their booth to begin with. I wanted to see his car and get a look at the way ATI's setup looked.
