I'd hate to keep you guys waiting longer than I have to so I'm pushing our manufacturers to get things as fast as possible, we dont have a definite launch date set yet, but you can assume it will be somewhere around the 7 week mark. I know it's going to be pretty hard to wait through but, trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

damn 7 weeks...im already iching!

What do they do with the pellets inbedded in the key? Are they "specific" for each car? or do they all work with all C5s? Or do they need to be programmed?

Do you have an estimate on how much these keys will cost? I think a lot of us are very interested in the key, but dont really want a key that costs what "Bently" people expect to pay for keys...

Id love to be able to buy 2, but i realize that it wount be too cheap, but id love to be defidently in for one!

The pellets in the key are actually resistors set to correspond with the ignition cylinder you have in your C5, there are 15 possible resistor values and the keys "don't have to be programmed", all you need is the correct resistor value for your car (which can be found out in many ways).

As far as pricing goes, we have not determined it yet. We need to evaluate our cost of the entire project (considerably huge) and also estimate how many units will be sold each month, year, etc.

If all one piece, some wouldn't need a key ring (myself included), and there would be nothing to rattle around.

If we get our website up and running before the 7 weeks would you guys consider pre-ordering? This is just an option of course, but it would assure your spot in line since there seems to be a lot of interest and this is such a customizable mod. Let me know what you guys think, and keep the responses comming.

Oh and red97vette thanks

Will the price be known for the pre-ordering ?
And are we going to be installing our key to your fob? or need to get a new key cut and chipped?
Thanks, looking forward to seeing the finished product

(im guessing that we are just going to have to recut the key, since you will probably provide everything but the cutting...)

and yes, i would pre order the key on your website, but would have to know how much it would cost before throwing $$ at it.

keep us updated!

I'm in for the pre-ordering as well, as long as we know the details up front. Thanks!

Is there any ballpark figure in pricing yet? I'm very interested in this, it looks awesome, I'll take mine in Torch Red. Good work.

I'm in Chicago. I'm willing to do some "field testing" on the fob.

Here are a few of the details that I can give out:

Since the FOB units will come with a new GM resistor key, which means that either you have to find out your resistor value (if you don't already know, this can be done by calling the dealership with your VIN) or you can have us call the dealership for you. We would recommend that you find out yourself since that is much easier.

The FOB will be available in 2 order methods, one being the whole unit which includes the GM key, the actual remote board, and of course the case. The second option for those who would like to save a little money is to order just the case and the GM key, and use your existing remote board. Installing the remote into the case is extremely simple since they "pop right in" you open your existing remote take the "one-peice board" out and put it in the new case. Both of the FOB's will come with detailed instructions and take less than 3 min. to complete (except for getting the key cut of course). The cases for both are exactly the same, the only different is that one will come with a circuit board and one won't (since you'll be using your own).

The keys that come with the case will have to be cut, now keep in mind this "DOES NOT have to be done at the dealership" it can be done by any locksmith or local hardware store (i.e., Home Depot, Lowes, etc.)

The colors of the case can be customized and all colors in which the C5 came in are available, or you could go with the standard black. The two colors that we are not sure about yet are Chrome and Carbon Fiber their availability will be determined at a later time. The back of the case will have the C5 logo and we are working on accommodating other logo's as well such as "Z06" and the "50th logo" stay tuned for those.

The pricing is the one detail I cannot give out at this time, but keep in mind that the quality of this product is going to be top of the line, we are using all original parts such as actual GM keys (no generic brands) and the case and all other components are of the same high quality as used by other automotive manufacturers (trust me we're paying for it). We are not skimping on any detail.

exciting info and i think that the resistor pellet can be measured with a ohm meter although im not definetly sure, but i though i remember someone telling me it could be done that way, anyone correct me if im wrong.
And i personally appreciate your concern about a quality product, and not producing a cheapie piece, as the saying goes
"you get what ya pay for'

so would the 50th logo be available by the time it came to market? or would I have to wait and see?
