Well at least you recognize sarcasm when you see it. That happens a lot around here. But we all recognize it and get a laugh out of it. It is what it is.

Just don't see any reason for the sarcastic responses from the mods. I would say that most of the people here are succesful adults who earn a good living or they couldn't afford the cars to begin with.

Scott

I fully agree with this, but this about it this way: On other forums, there are stupid pissing contests ALL the damn time. Here atleast everyone is helpful (EXTREMELY) and people rarely argue on the forums. Nothing is worse than ignorance, and ignorance doesn't have a home on the corvetteforum.

Generally they are just trying to keep us all in check. I am speaking from a few past experiences here. It's all good

and you do have that option. If you are perceivng a moderator to be rude, whether it was due to the closing of a thread or in a post itself, then you should address it then (and privately) to the mod or to SAVEWAVE. Have you tried doing this yet?

Why should they it in public and make a spectacle? That would be Unprofessional IMO.

This is one of the nicest and most helpful forums I'VE EVER SEEN! (BTW, I've been meaning to thank everyone for being that way.)

The way to judge a forum? How they treat Newbies. Here newbies are always welcomed. It doesn't matter if their question has been asked 10,000 times before, there is always someone here to tell them about the search function, point them to a thread that answers their question, and welcome them to the community at the same time.

I use forums in business in which some members try to ruin other people's careers.

This is a community here and I'd hate to tell anyone to leave, but ....

Scott - I really think you should either email or PM Troy Roberts with your concerns. Troy is the boss and everything I've ever seen here tells me this is not the place to air your views.

You absolutely have the right to your opinion and to speak it - but to criticize management in "public" is not the correct course to take.

The Forum is free to it's members, sponsored and fully supported by the vendors. The forum rules are very specific (and need to be!) about what is acceptable behavior, and what isn't.

The moderator's job is to make sure that we all stay within those guidelines. If they're a little sarcastic sometimes, it's because they have a rotten job and do it on a strictly voluntary basis - no pay.

I do not get offended by Grumpy's sarcasm (I assume that's who we're talking about....) - he's no more sarcastic than about 99% of the others around here - venture over to OT if you really want to experience sarcasm.

I hate to say it - but if you're not happy here, then maybe you should go elsewhere, and I mean that with all due respect. Good luck!

This is not about the people here. THis is about the mods attitude toward the people. And btw, I didn't have a thread locked that started this. It is just a trend I have noticed of the mods to people who have had threads locked. Oh, and I did have a thread locked a while back. So I do know how it feels.

I have been on this forum for over a year now, and yes I know what sarcasm is and I know what IBTL means. And no, I do not expect this thread to last long.
Again, most of the forum members here are great. THis is not about them.
And btw, based on the number of P.M.'s I have gotten, I am not the only one who feels this way.

Sorry about your issues with the mods. I am a little surprised this one has not been locked down yet.

Come over to OT, we are real calm over there.

Rattler71,

I've only been on here since the beginning of November last year but I spend a heck of a lot of time on here (way too much) and I have only come across one instance where I thought a moderator was out of line. I sent that moderator a PM and was very pleased with the result. We are all likely to make an error in judgement once in a great while. I would definately try resolving your issue behind the scenes before making it public. It's obvious too late for that this time but I would still shoot them a PM, you don't want to add insult to injury and have this thread locked. I am guessing they are monitoring it right now and as long as it doesn't get out of control they may let it stand. As far as the guys who jump in with the "IBTL" that used to bother me too but it's part of the humorous side to the forum. Don't pay any attention to it if it bothers you, there's no way you can control what someone else posts anyway. I've seen plently of self monitoring by other forum members when someone is out of line on someones thread. That always brings a smile to my face. Most people won't tolerate someone stepping out of line in someones thread and they will make that person aware of it. Hope this helps.

I think the forum is in need of some moderator reorganization, perhaps cutting some and adding some.

No flames to Grumpy or Jesse, I think they do a fine job when they are here....but between all the C5 forums and also OT, that's a lot of moderating to do for two people. Mean Green hasn't been seen in this forum in a heck of a long time.

OT has many other moderators listed, but none of them seemingly ever visit the forum anymore. That forum demands a lot of time for mods to sift through and read each thread...and again, it's the same two people doing 99% the mod work there too.

Let's cut Jesse and Grumpy a little slack. They are here as often as they can be, and see the same stuff posted every day. They have to play by Troy's rules, and that isn't fun. Grumpy tends to be a little witty in his "closing replies", but that's just the way he is. Most threads closed here don't need a reason explained....all the IB4TL replies serve to reinforce the fact that people know what's right and wrong here, so most times an explanatation is unnecessary.
Jesse's replies tend to be more informative and sincere, and maybe a little more "newbie-friendly"....because that's his personality.

If all these "succesful adults who earn a good living" you speak of could perhaps play by the rather simple forum rules, the mod's job here might be a little less aggravating day in and day out, and you might not see such "replies of frustration".

They do a hard and unpaid job and collectively they likely see a LOT more than any one of us does on a singular basis. They also receive private and behind-the-scenes info that we don't see, by virtue of their position. Remember, there are often many sides to a story, and a thread may not reveal that as well as people's real motives or additional biases. The moderators, therefore, are in the best position to evaluate these considerations.

With all that said, and given the popularity of this forum, the extent of its membership, and the length of its success, I say they do a dandy job.
