I drove my car home from Illinois to Florida and I saw so many other Corvettes on the road. I waved every time...never got one back. I even stopped down at Bowling Green on my way back and saw two or three there with no wave. What's up with that?
I drove mine home from Michigan in Nov. 2004
and I would agree with you, not many waves
during the trip. As soon as I hit Florida
right around Jacksonville people were
practically hanging out their windows
with a or a .
Its obvious here in the South that we are go lucky happy people for the most part. Up North its a whole different story. Lots of up tight people. If you wave you just might get flipped off. Our southen style down here is just a little different than the Up North Style of life. I think the fast paced lifestyle, traffic and the Yankee persona has everything to do with it(STRESS!), whatever. I guess if I was up North in freezing temperatues, snow and bad weather in the winter I would be depressed and mad too. I'm not trying to stereotype the North, buts its true in general. No hard feelings to anybody.. Nothing like Southern Hospitalibly... Oh Crud I'm gonna get flamed! Love you guys!
As a new corvette owner I did not know about the waive prior to purchasing my '04... After two or three Vet owners waived at me I finally caught on and now waive to other Vet owners every time. Maybe the other guy needs a few waives before he catches on too (especially C6 owners)... So keep waivin.
I think like more so with Porsches you still get some people who buy Vettes just to have a cool car and are a bit clueless when it comes to the culture. I used to have a Wrangler and I get about the same hit ratio on the Corvette wave as I did with the Jeep wave.
I enjoy the experience of owning and driving the vette everytime I am lucky enough to be behind the wheel. I wave at all vette owners. Some wave back, some don't. Oh well....

O.K., here goes. Back in the day when there were less vettes on the road the owners felt closer due to the uniqueness of the car and the understanding what each other went through to own, repair, and maintain a vette. Nowadays you'll probably see more pre-C5/C6 owners waving for the same reasons plus the fact that they all are keeping an American tradition alive. A lot of C5 and now C6 owners that don't work on their own cars or mod them just drive them like just another expensive car and have no real vette fever. Those C5/C6 owners that constantly carefor, and get a great feeling from driving their vettes are the ones you can expect to wave. Once in awhile we don't see each other in time to wave, sometimes if I see a last second wave and it's too late for me to return it I'll flash my emergency flasher or blink each turn signal once in hopes that they will see my acknoledgement.
Hey, it's just like speaking to strangers, you say hello, hi, or good morning but not everyone speaks, but that doesn't stop you from speaking to people so don't stop waving!!!

O.K., here goes. Back in the day when there were less vettes on the road the owners felt closer due to the uniqueness of the car and the understanding what each other went through to own, repair, and maintain a vette along with the understanding of what a beautiful machine he/she had. Nowadays you'll probably see more pre-C5/C6 owners waving for the same reasons plus the fact that they all are keeping an American tradition alive. A lot of C5 and now C6 owners that don't work on their own cars or mod them just drive them like just another expensive car and have no real vette fever or passion. I always wave at other Vettes....and wave or thumbs up at traditional sports cars....vintage detroit muscle cars...European supercars....hot rods......lead sleds.....and the least response is from other Vettes...Sad! All the other specialty cars drivers will wave or thumbs up or blink lights back.....Conclusion ....Not all corvette owners are car enthusiasts.
I IGNORE *** ricers with blat coffee can mufflers and crap looking body kits, no matter how much HP they turbo and NOS. I also try to ignore BMW drives but they are always so darn busy on the cell phone and doing make-up or checking the Dow Jones averages that I often have to 'show them they are Number 1' for almost hitting me or driving in both lanes or running red lights etc...
In the last week, I've gotten Waves from a C3 and a C4, and this is in the middle of a German winter, so from what I can see, the wave is alive and well
note: I spent 3 months in Mississippi back in '03 and don't remember ever getting a single wave.
