Hello everyone...I have finally found a rim that I like and I am going to go place a order tomorrow...19/20" setup....i just had a few quick questions....what kind of tires would be best...LONGEST LASTING (MOST IMPORTANT), traction, and smoothest riding......I also don't want a extremely pricy tire so best bang for the buck would be good ....and another thing...i plan on taking out the sensors from my magnesium wheels...where do i put these sensors in the new wheel...do they program themselves?? my vert is a 2001
I already know the sites provide good information but i was looking for some help from some corvette owners since some are using aftermarket tires...which they prefer over others etc....which they would recomment to go with...so some help would be greatly appreciated!!
I noticed you want a smooth ride. Don't order 19 and 20 inch wheels if this is important to you!!!!!! Extra short side walls needed with 19 and 20 inch diameter wheels are very stiff.
Think about 18 and 18 diameter, just wider in back.
18x10.5 f with 275/35 and 18x11 r with 315 to 335 /30
I like Toyo T1-s for great all around performance and long life, even great rain performance. Michelin Pilot Sports are also well thought of.For just plain sticky, Goodyear G-force, but this is not what your after.
I am going to go all 18s as indicated above when we do the upgrade from stock.

I highly recommend the Goodyear GSD3s - fantastic ride, handling (both dry and wet), 26 lbs lighter than the clunky runflats, and made right here in the US of A. Your owners manual explains how to relearn the tire pressure sensors and any good tire shop that has worked on Corvettes will know how to mount them.

The reality is when you get into the 19/20" wheel sizes, you start throwing ride, and longevity out the window. Also - your choices are limited to what's available in those sizes.
I have a friend who just had some Lowenhart wheels made for his C5 in 19/20". He's running a 275/30-19 in front and a 295/25-20 in back, Michelin Pilot Sports. That tire in back has a sidewall that is about 1 1/2" tall. It looks like a rubberband stretched around the rim!
The point is this is a high performance tire with a very stiff sidewall, and to get this look you sacrifice some other characteristics.
Before you jump into this - think about it. He's got about $6K in wheels and $1200 in tires......
I just installed a new set a few days ago and I love them. Very agressive tread pattern, MUCH quiter than the EMT's, and they GRIP (I haven't tried them in the rain yet).
thanks for all the help....the shop im buying from is recommending BFGOODRICH KDW...good or bad?? but im thinking about the pilot sports and the toyos as well....
