Guess I'm showing my age at 54. I'm more than happy to just put it in drive and go. I'm too lasy to do all that work.

I never cared about shifting until I installed the Borla Stingers. Now I love to hear them singing away and let the engine rev a little between shifts.

Yes, my next Vette will be a stick......

You guys are a riot! I'm not afraid of hurting my baby anymore. I'm going to tour the Childress Winery & CRC facility tomorrow with my Vette club "CLUBVETTE" of Greensboro NC and I'm going to be a "A4" Shifting ****!!!!!

Default Shifting

I love a six speed but I like to bracket drag race so the A4 was the way to go for me. I set the shift firmness on 100% on my hypertech III and it really shifts fast and firm much quicker than I could manually shift the A4. You could probably shift the M6 a little faster with practice but the times would never be as consistant. I think as long as you shift your A4 properly you will have no problems with your tranny.

Well, I haven't broken mine with 497rwhp yet. Granted I have runcraps so they do NOT hook - but I'm a shiftin' ****. Love to hear those Stingers sing

Shift it like you stole it

Keep an eye on your trans temp and you'll be fine.

EG[/QUOTE]

What is considered too high on the trans temp? (I know this is probably in my owner's manual, but I am away from the car).

With proper programming there is no need to manually shift, let the auto do the work. This can be done with any tuner program. You can set upshift/downshift MPH and firmness. Makes the car much more fun to drive.

Manual shifting is fine, and won't hurt your A4.
I tried manual shifting mine once, but the boost came on so fast it bounced off the rev limiter and scared the crap out out of me.
Came to the conclusion the computer is a lot quicker then I am!

I'd love to have a 6 speed but my leg is shot to $hit literally. Thanks to a small elfin like creature known as Mr. Charles.
I envy you guys. To me my Vettes with their 4 speeds were great I can only imagine 6.
Sprint Cars I used to drive had two and even that was a HOOT!
To me you have much more control with a standard.

Just add 2 more gears to your A4 and you'll have the best of both worlds.

Price is circa $2700 - check it out at http://www.gearvendors.com/index.html
