The last time I was pulled over,I politely dissagreed with the speed the officer claimed I was traveling at and got this responce at the top of his voice" are you calling me a liar"
That responce and the recent drug scandal of a local precinct has changed my viewpiont of police from friends to annoyance..
ok you guys down there have it easy! i live 30 mins east of Toronto. here the cops/goverment are not a tuners best friend... when i had my bmw i had a light black tint (very light) and no front plate, got pulled over about once a week because of my age... that part does not bother me , what bothers me is when the young cop comes and starts asking me questions. what do you do for a living? how can you afford this at your age? and i obviously know what they are thinking, im a drug dealer... i got pulled over about 5 times for no plate,in the time i owned the bmw (1 year) and every time i got a ticket of $110 and thought wow this wont happen again. wrong. if a cop up here see's a modded car wether (spl?) it be a fart can civic or a blown Z06, they will pull you over 1 out of 5 times if even going the speed limit. our goverment doesnt allow us to import cars that are not over 15 years, they are trying to pass a law right now saying no performance modification can be done to the car... alot of BS but what i really dont like are the cops in my neighbourhood. they know where the people around here hang out on a friday and saturday, about 150 cars on average a night and they come up every time and start writing tickets even though we are parked in a Tim Hortons parking lot (with permission) and are not doing anything.By the end of the summer there was about 20 cars on average. i just got pulled over today with my winter beater (RX7) and this lady cop called 2 other officers just to use the machine that measures the decibels of your exhuast, i was 2 over and got a $150 ticket. i have about 3 friends that are cops and i can honestly say even comin from them, out of the whole force 100+ there are maybe 10 that are not looking to fill quotas from cars on the streets. it is ridicilous and i was i could get my damn visa to come to the States!!!
yeah... its' mostly the same here on the west coast too. in my old beater car (83 toyota supra) i had the plate secured in the front window, because the front bumper was so rusted and basicly you couldn't get the plate on it without replacing the bumper. and yeah i got pulled over and ticketed for no front plate, even though it was clearly visible, and i was polite, but no verbal warning. just a ticket... i once got a speeding ticket for going 66kph in a 60 zone... i swear cops here are just a revenue gathering department for the government. as for tint, in BC there is no darkness laws for the back window or rear side windows, but the front wndows and windshield can't have any tint at all. zero tolerance, and yes i found that out the hard way too.... no tint on my vette anymore.
I tend to follow the local ordinances for the simple reason that I do not want to give Joey an additional reason to pull me over. Say for instance you are at dinner and you have a glass or two of wine. In my state with the recently lowered levels, I could very well blow an alcohol level that is above the recent changed limit. Now I am not saying that I am a habitual drinker. We have all done it, a beer or two (or your favorite cocktail). All it takes is to be pulled over for the windows too dark or the front plate missing. At that point there is a good chance you will be spending your weekends polishing that great car instead of winding down your favorite stretch of highway.
No front plate gives LEO an excuse/probable cause for a stop...anytime at their discretion. I put a front plate on with a clear cover from Zip...and it looks just fine.

If you have a plate in the front window it'll get you pulled over faster than if you have no plate at all... The human mind just works like that.
