Default Tickets!!! Violations!!

OK... How many of you have been pulled over for no front tag? Does that make you put the front tag on? It wouldn't for me. I'd just pay the stupid fine and drive the next day with no front tag.

How many of you have been pulled over for dark window tinting? Did you then take off the tint? When I bought my Z it had a dark tint. I took it over to the tint shop, had the tint removed, got the car state inspected and then drove right back over to the tint shop to have my tint re-applied. So... has anyone been given a hard time because of their window tint, tag, etc...?

Not yet.

The Virginia authorities could get me on tint (38 percent is illegal here, though legal in Maryland), front plate (none), and exhaust (Borla Stingers). I'm hoping I never encounter a cop having a really bad day. But my car stays as it is.

Uzi,

My city could use the revenue your tickets would provide, I bet to the point they would even lower my taxes thanks to you!

If you were a police officer you would distinctly think differently about people who tint the windows so they can't be seen, day or night. If I was the cop approaching and saw that you also had no front plate you would be assuming the position before I approached your door and then would have a minimum of 2 tickets.

How about giving our other guys in uniform the support they need.

I will never put a front plate on my car. been pulled over once in 2 years. Got off with a warning. If I get fined this coming year, so what... If it is a 100 fine, that was a $33.33 a year corvette tax... Hell I pay more in towels to clean my cars.

I support leos, however in Ga. there is no longer a law on tinted windows, It was recinded for being unconstitutional. It only apllyed to Ga. residents not all cars, so if you were from Fla. and had tinted windows you were safe from being ticketed but if you lived in Ga. you were breaking the law.

That said I do have tinted windows on both my vehicles. I am not a felon, I am a law abiding citizen and should have the right to protect the interior of my car from the blazing sun in Ga. I also should be alowed to mod my car to my pleasure.

If you choose to be a Leo you assume certain risks, did you think car stops were a simple safe procedure, are you not trained for this. I do support you leos out there if i am stopped I roll all my windows down imediatly, turn on my interior lights and place my hands on the wheel. I do this to help the officer feel more safe, I don't tint my windows to make thier lives hell. I also will advise them of any firearm I have in my car, legally, and I have a concealed carry permit, before I move my hands. I have always been treated with respect on the few occasions I have been stopped. I feel my actions were and are very pro Leo and and I will comply and act in any way to help them feel more at ease, I realize they have a tough job, but so do many of us.

Shylor as for the taxes, In ga. I don't need a front plate and am alowed to tint my windows, so I'll keep those tax revenues you refer to, and thats what they are taxes. I have paid way more than my share of taxes, IMHO, and will ot give up my rights to penny pinching politicians out to use Traffic saftey as a revuene generator.

I appreciate Leos efforts and support them, but I as a citizen have rights as well, I pose no threat, I act in a manner to help put them at ease, but I will not give up my rights.

Respectfully Gonzo

The tinting laws aren't for making officers feel more at ease during traffic stops they're for visibility reasons while driving. Many police cars in my area have tinting so dark it might as well be black paint and not just on K-9 cars. I support my local law enforcement but I can't live my life around making others feel more comfortable in a proffession they've chosen. Tinting and no front tag for me is for asthetic purposes. I think a front tag on a vette looks terrible and tinting makes the car look better IMO. We're not trying to screw anybody. Sheeeesh...

I've had no front tag for 10 years and been issued one sitation for it in that time. I've spoken to my Police friends about this and they told me they don't give a crap but will give someone a citation for it if they pull them over for something and get a bunch crap from that person.

In theory, it's against the law to drive without front plates here (North Texas), but I've never seen a Vette with front tags. The cops seem to be cool about it. They must understand that it would spoil the face of beautiful car.

Rick

I think you're right. I've never seen a c5 or c6 in my area with a front tag. Corvettes are just not meant to have front tags and I think police know that and cut us some slack.

In Texas it seams that only the DPS or State Cops pull you over for no front tag. I got a warning from them in my Trans Am. Been pulled over twice in the T/A and once in the Vette by City Cops. The City Cops never check to see if you have it.

Got two warnings from the same State Police trooper, when he said that the next time was a ticket. I believed him and put the front plate on the car.

Pulled over twice in the Vette for missing front license plate.

The first one was a warning along with 2 other warnings for too dark of taillight blackouts and too dark rear license plate cover. The second one was only for missing front plate, this time I got a $75 ticket for it. Never did put the front plate back. In fact, none of my cars in the US have front license plate, ever.

Have no idea about dark tint. I'm never a fan of one, although I'm thinking about getting one for my Z06 and my other black car.

I tend to follow the local ordinances for the simple reason that I do not want to give Joey an additional reason to pull me over. Say for instance you are at dinner and you have a glass or two of wine. In my state with the recently lowered levels, I could very well blow an alcohol level that is above the recent changed limit. Now I am not saying that I am a habitual drinker. We have all done it, a beer or two (or your favorite cocktail). All it takes is to be pulled over for the windows too dark or the front plate missing. At that point there is a good chance you will be spending your weekends polishing that great car instead of winding down your favorite stretch of highway.

I wear my front tag to around town. When going on highway runs I usually put on the front face plate to keep a smooth profile. I've been pulled over too many times for no front plate and then given tickets for other crap at the same time. F'in leos.

That is a legitimate concern. I keep a high quality breathalyzer in my car to be safe.

I think the low-riders with no front license plates and dark tinted windows have more to worry about than we do.

In the greater Houston area, the various police agencies do not seem to care about enforcing the front license plate law. I have been in violation for over 4-1/2 years now. I do live in fear of DPS as I know they are **** about everything. I think it comes from being the lowest paid agency in the state. Being low paid would give anyone an attitude.

I recently ordered a speed lengerie bra and had them make the opening for the front lic. plate.I plan on installing that 2 peice light kit and will have the protection from the clear guard on the mask.If I got alot of ticket's I'd probably put the front plate on and sell the light kit.
