Ive been getting closer and closer to doing the LED interior mod to my vette but im stuck on what color to do. Ive seen the other posts where other members have asked about other color combinations. So if you have any done the LED mod post up some pics.
SpdKilz and CUlookin have done the Blue LEDs but has anyone done RED, or White?
I just ordered all white LED's from the site linked on SpdKilz site. I wanted to go with pure white LED's because I think those will give out the exact same brilliant white light that is produced from our blacklight lit cluster gauges. If you can hold off for a few days I will have pics when im done.

the brilliant light you speak of in our DIC's in produced by UV light (blacklight like you said) on flourescent gauges... It won't give you the same effect with white LED's. The white LED's actually give off a bluish tint which I love. Here's a pic of the rear of my car, just took the pic tonight...
I love the white light in the back, it really gives a new car look, not dated at all (like the Xenon/HID headlights instead of the yellowish lighting on most cars).
JTS97Z28 - These white LED's will look great in your door switches, i can't wait to see them.
As for Red... it will look AWESOME too, the gauges on my bro's Yamaha R6 are red (mine are white) and they look so cool!

Yeah I know how our stock gauges are lit but im saying that white LED's give off just about the same brilliant white type light as the UV blacklight does reflecting on the gauges. Im mainly just trying to go for the same color interior lighting all around. You ever notice how stock all the lights looks yellowish compared to the UV lit gauges? trying to change that :-)
yeah I hear ya, I hate yellowish lights... You'll be impressed with the white LED's, the only problem I've run into is above the pedals. I put in two white LED's and now I have large bright spots on my floormats... gunna change that tomorrow with some plastic that will diffuse the light

Another way to diffuse the light is to cut the top of the LED off...as you can see in this picture there really aren't any "spots" per-say...it is a more all around glow.
Also...if ANYONE knows how to safely tear apart the rearview mirror assembly, please let me know! Those are the MAIN LED's I have been wanting to get out of there (I seriously hate the greenish-yellowish light it gives off). I want to put in some soft white LED's in there. I'm just afraid I am going to screw up the mirror, and Chevy is going to charge an arm and a leg for a new one...
Carleton I just sent a email to a vender that has a mirror that he said he would let go cheap. (He has a junk yard that has some vettes )So hopefully ill have on soon. Ill tear it apart but im sure ill be IM'ing you for some pointers. Since you dont have a how to on that

I would appreciated that SO much! Keep me updated!
Another option no one has mentioned that I used is cold cathode tubes. I used 4" white ones on each side under the dash. The 12" are way to bright. I love the look and I most people like it when they get in. I think cold cathodes (comonly used in other colors for computer case mods) fill the floorboard with more light than just LED's because they seem to concentrate the light more than I would like for this application.
Did you guys wire those rear compartment LED's yourself or use one of those conversion lamp deals that are an array of LED's on a M_ lamp? If you did it with the conversion lamp what size should I use?
Also thanks to speedkilz for the how to on the LED install. I will be doing this as soon as I finish my 10w7 install. Also thanks for the downloads, I have been leeching like crazy off your site. The cobra vs z06 where the cobra blows the rod was painful but fun to watch.
I wired it myself... Took a few hours to build the lights with the LED's, epoxy, and some custom plastic brackets...When I'm done with the passenger area tonight I will post some pics of the project!

I have experience with both neon’s and cold cathodes, and if you use anything other than white I would recommend neon over a cathode. Cathodes are brighter for neon, however they give off a more white look (as seen in these pictures I took years ago).
I also wired up the back LEDs by myself. I drilled two extra holes and wired them into the existing circuitry (and put a third LED in the middle in place of the stock bulb).
No problem about the LED install. I'm glad to be of help! Also, good sub you choose to go with Lastly, don't worry about leeching...for now! I've already gone through 100 gigabytes of bandwidth this month, so we'll see if the third host I just picked up really does have unlimited bandwidth, haha!

Thanks alot... but even after reading your step by step install I'm still lost. I guess I'm just not a eletronics guy. Am I missing something? It looks simple but I don't get it. I would really enjoy blue or red interior lights.... anyone in Cali care to show me how to do this?
