Default Another Tire Question

Any thoughts about replacing the RF on my Vert with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3? Would this be a good replacement for a non run flat type tire?

Thanks

I've had these tires on my mine for a year and 10k miles. Love them. Great tire rain or shine/ Smooth and quiet. Just recently had a chance to run them at 120 mph on wet a road with no hint of hydroplaning. I will be buying another set when these wear out.

Glad to hear that. Living in Houston makes having a tire that is good in the wet a real plus.

Did you notice quite a large difference in noise level vs the run flats?

Ron,

FWIW, The Tirerack rates the GS-D3, #2 out of 20 tires, right behind the Michelin PS2 (almost a dead tie), in its ranking of max performance summer tires. I just bought a full set and I'll be putting them on as soon as I find a set of '98-'00 tire pressure sensors.

Excellent choice of tire. They are incredible in the rain and among the very best on dry roads. The noise level is lower and the ride is much more forgiving - kinda like combining a Z06 with a Lexus - tremendous improvement over less-than-perfect roads. Side-hopping around corners is also greatly reduced. I love these GSD3s!

I can't comment just yet!! But I did buy them and they are on the car. Only have 50 miles on them and the car was put away for the winter. But they are soooo Much quieter than the RF's.

I put on a set a couple of week ago. And I got to tell ya. Those are the most awesome gripping tires on wet road you will find anywere!

I happened upon a Trans Am at a stop light, and we both knew what was going to happen when the light turned green.

Got a slow running start, about 1/2 way through first gear, then HAMMERED it. No slip with me. Hit Second, no slipping, into third, then up to 90, then backed down.

I was totally amazed at the grip. OH...the Trans Am??.. saw nothing but tail lights while he's trying to feather in and out on the clutch to keep from spinning out on the wet street. When he hit third, he did make an impressive gain, but all for naught. I'd already backed down.

Totally awesome tire. Can't go wrong. The tire tread along makes it look bas-azzzzzz

I'm a short timer with my new GS D3's (stock sizes) but I am pleased. Reduced "impact" noise on the tires but that may be the case with any non-runflat as opposed to a stiffer runflat. I'm not convinced that they are THAT much quieter in road "hiss" or "sing". I thought that the tread pattern would eliminate the tread "block slap" that was the noise source on tires like the old Gatorback style but my jury is still out. Happy with the non-runflat switch though.
